Suffering

Earl Brown · Wednesday, July 31st 2013 at 7:15PM · 708 views
“When another person makes you suffer, it is because he/she suffers deeply within himself/herself, and his/her suffering is spilling over. He/she does not need punishment; he/she needs help. That's the message he/she is sending.”

Yes, I agree Irma. I remember an old saying...."People can only do to you...what you allow them to do"...

What language is that?

Harry Watley Wednesday, July 31st 2013 at 11:37PM

Earl,

You have it backwards. The one that needs help first and immediately is the one suffering and not the one causing the suffering on another.

If A is causing suffering to B it is not B that you help. It is A that you help because it is B that is suffering caused by A.

I have an IQ of 68 and I have more sense than you have. What is up with that Earl?

Earl, you have made a statement that depends on the circumstances of the suffering. I have learned from my own experiences that there are different sizes of suffering for different types of conditions. One example is when we learn from the Bible that cleanliness is next to Godliness, therefore you would think that the Black man would have the cleanest neighborhood, but that's not true, because he knows that if he keeps his area too clean the landlord will raise the rent. He suffers because he doesn't realize he's is able to put the landlord in check with the (spiritual) after affects of his cleanliness.

Jen, if you mean Thich Nhat Hanh, he is Vietnamese. In my calendar, for August, is this quote:

"Looking deeply at any one thing, we see the whole cosmos. The one is made of the many. To take care of ourselves, we take care of those around us."

@ Steve,
