A Positive Image of Marriage and Family

Have you ever observed a couple who appear to be totally in tune with one another? A couple who really seem to have “it”? They look good together, communicate well and simply put, seem truly connected. Joy isn’t always present in relationships, so when we see a couple who exudes this type of bliss we take notice.

Joy is usually the goal for most marriages. Unfortunately, not every couple arrives there. Some struggle in various areas. Lack of communication, intimacy and trust are those joy killers. It hurts to be in a relationship that won’t allow us the opportunity to experience a sense of peace and overall joy. For those couples who have it, there is much to be learned on how they reached this pinnacle in their relationship. Everyone wants to be happy. The reason a couple isn’t, has a lot to do with neglecting the list below. If creating more joy is your desire too, here are the 5 things happy couples do better than all other couples:

1.
They laugh! It has been said laughter is the best medicine. Who better to laugh with than the person we love the most. Doing something to make our spouse laugh or even smile should be a secret daily goal for every couple.

2.
They don’t manufacture drama! Looking for reasons to complain and be miserable isn’t on a happy couple’s radar. They are consistently searching for the good in even the most challenging situations. Remember their goal is joy.

3.
They celebrate! A happy couple takes the time to enjoy the big as well as the small things in life. In addition to birthdays and anniversaries, they celebrate the end of summer, paying off a bill, kids going back to school, or even getting new furniture, to name a few. Those special moments in life never slip pass this couple.

4.
They travel! Couples focused on joy spend time together, quality time, extended time. They know the value of leaving it all behind and taking the time to unwind, reconnect and experience the beauty of this world. Keep in mind, traveling doesn’t always have to break the bank. Staycations count too, as long as we get away.

5.
They kiss! They kiss, touch, make love and stay physically connected. Happy couples look forward to this part of their relationship. This is probably what leads to their joy the most. Good lovin is the escape most couples need from the stresses of the world.

The majority of us want to be part of a relationship that feels good. The reality, of course, is not every day will be filled with joyful moments. But as often as possible, we should incorporate the list above.

BMWK, what would you add to this list?
