Slight increase in young girls, and or women in areas of the Uttar Pradesh has alarmed more people to report incidents of hangings. Followed by a fourth hanging took place on June 12, 2014 of a young teen girl has reopened sensitive outcries from the communities. The news report stated that the young girl died by hanging, but showed no evidence of being raped. Most of the recent actions of these crimes against women are reported to be from gangs. Many women are gang raped, and killed; or are barely alive from the torture. Most are related to s*xual violence. Many new laws in India have given more sterner punishment to gang members caught, as it was prompted by a young woman who died on a bus ride home with her boyfriend was raped and murdered last year. However, this recent increase ignited the awareness of the increase in just a few weeks apart. The new Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that women should be a first priority. More reporting of such acts are being reported and women are informed to always be on the alert from travelling in places of high gang activity.
