Video: First Trailer for Clement Virgo’s “The Book of Negroes” (692 hits)

Based on Lawrence Hill’s award-winning novel, The Book of Negroes, (also known as Someone Knows My Name) has been made into a film by Canadian filmmaker, Clement Virgo.

The story is about an 11-year-old girl, Aminata, who is abducted from her village in West Africa and sold into slavery. The story follows her incredible journey of pain, courage, determination and hope, eventually leading her to freedom and back to Sierra Leone.

Starring Aunjanue Ellis, Lyriq Bent, Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Louis Gossett, Jr., the film will premiere later this year at the Cannes Film Festival. It will air on television as a 6-hour miniseries during the 2014/2015 season. BET has acquired domestic rights to the film.

We are not African[Ham]

According to Zondervan's Compact Bible Dictionary listed under Ham it defines as such: The youngest son of Noah, born probably about 96 years before the Flood; and one of eight persons to live through the Flood. He became the progenitor of the dark races; not the Negroes, but the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans and Canaanites.

Saint,

You are claiming that the 41 million Black Americans descended a plantation slaves are the biblical Israelites chased into West Africa by the Romans in 70 A.D. Under your theory Black Americans would still be African people even though you claim we are not Africans, yet you say we came from Africa to America.

Either we are Africans or we are not! If we are not Africans then we have to be a new race of people as I say we are. But, please unravel the contradiction that we came from Africa yet we are not Africans. According to you we are the biblical Israelites and the Jewish people in the state of Israel are imposters.

Lastly, do you agree with me that plantation slavery happened in this country between the 15th and 18th century?

Mr. Gray,

These other things that frustrates me about my people especially the ones that thinks they are intelligent. You are implying that I know the answer! And, I didn't watch the video. My only point about plantation slavery is that plantation slavery produced a new race of people; Black Americans. My second revelation from God was that Black Americans are a new race of people.
Therefore, Black Americans can not be all these other things said! For example, Mr. Deacon Gray claims that Black Americans are the descendents of the biblical Ham. Black Americans cannot be the descendents of the biblical Ham since we are a new race of people. Mr. Elijah Muhammad said that Black Americans are the lost tribe of Shabazz. Black Americans cannot be the lost tribe of Shabazz since we are a new race of people born out of the ashes of plantation slavery. Saints says that Black Americans are the descendents of the Biblical Israelite people chased into West Africa in 70 A.D. However, Black Americans can not have ancestors going back to 70 A.D. since Black Americans are a new race of people born out of the ashes of plantation slavery.

Plantation slavery did happen and therefore my claim that Black Americans are a new race of people is absolutely true therefore it supersedes all of the speculations of who Black Americans are.

No one has greater knowledge than I do!
