The word "Boriquen" is the name given by Taino (Arawak Indians) from the native land mass of the Island of Puerto Rico.
Translated from the Spanish; "La tierra del altivo se" to English means: "The Land Of The Mighty Lord".
The Arawak Indians spoke a broken version of paelo- Hebrew and refer to Yahawah (Most High) as Yah. Yah...... for short.
There are a lot of Hebrew Israelite camps that refer to the Most High as Yah...... that shorten version has an historic root in the Caribbean.
The legacy of the Taino Indians remains in the language, customs, and culture in the isles of the Caribbean.
There are museums in Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and other Caribbean Islands dedicated to the customs of the people Taino's (Boriquenos).
This rich history is available in New York at "El Museo Del Bario" located at 1230 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10029.
Been there and done it several times and I had a course during college dedicated to Caribbean {Boriquen} culture.
The Arawak Indians aboded in all of the Caribbean Islands especially Jamaica (Xaymaca) named by the Arawak Indians which means the "Land of Wood & Water", Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, and the other isles as well.
Some of the Taino words were borrowed by the Spanish and subsequently by the English languages, and are modern day reminders of this once proud and vigorous nationality of people.
These words include barbacoa (barbecue), cacique (chief), canoa (canoe), and hurac (hurricane)
