Earlier this week after a sneak peek screening of new episodes of "Iyanla:Fix My Life" I got a chance to chat with the priestess about the "Myth of the Angry Black Woman" a topic Iyanla will explore in the all new season of her award-winning self-help series which airs on OWN. The show will return with an emotional four-part, multi-week episode when spiritual life coach Iyanla Vanzant invites eight women to move into a "House of Healing" to dispel the myth of the "Angry Black Woman" and address the misperceptions often associated with African American women, their behavior and ultimately their cultural identity.
In the season premiere, Iyanla aims to prove that the "Angry Black Woman" stereotype is inaccurate, untrue and dangerous. The women, which include a single mom, several victims of child abuse, and a set of twins—one of whom was attacked by an ex-boyfriend—are provided with the opportunity to be heard as together with Iyanla they examine their feelings, misguided pain, abandonment and abuse.
Tune in for the season premiere of Iyanla: Fix My Life on Saturday, September 10, at 9/8c.
