It IS a serious business, because it's a serious disease.

Did you see this video presentation Steve? If so, what did this new research said cancer was linked to?

I saw the video Ron. I had surgery for mouth cancer in early June and still have some on one of the margins that was missed and needs followup surgery. It was not caused by B17 deficiency but by being a heavy smoker. So while I love beans and cashews and almonds, I would not have relied on them to save me from a horrible death. I did quit smoking of course.

It sounds like you have been blessed for the powers to quite that addiction.

Well I have to accept that I didn't do it earlier, but after I'd dodged the bullet it was an obvious choice. What would really be useful for other cigarette addicts would any aid towards quitting, nutritional or otherwise.

Nicotine isn't at the root of it, I can tell you that much.

You said: Nicotine isn't at the root of it, I can tell you that much.

Then what was The Root Cause Steve?

The root cause was lighting up that first cigarette 18 years ago. The addiction is just a long ingrained habit. So when I quit I didn't use any nicotine patches or anything else. I just had to bite the bullet and break the habit. That was 4 months ago and it's much easier but not completely over.

Steve, I know a little about this subject because I am a X cigarette smoker of about 20 years and been clean for about 15 years.

Here's what I learned over the many years of smoking. Steve, if you ask any smoker why they smoke and the answer you will get is that it brings them pleasure. They’ll note that it either calms or stimulates them (despite being a stimulant, nicotine often has a calming effect on smokers); helps them manage stress, or that they’re so used to smoking that it’s become second nature to them. Rarely anyone will tell you, straight off the bat, that they suffer from nicotine addiction, which is the true, underlying reason why people smoke. Even if they do identify nicotine as the culprit for their smoking habit, most smokers won’t be able to tell you anything about it – they won’t know how nicotine causes addiction, why they don’t feel hungry after smoking, or what are the health effects of nicotine.

As you know, Smoking is a leading cause of cancer and death from cancer. It causes cancers of the lung, esophagus, larynx, mouth, throat, kidney, bladder, liver, pancreas, stomach, cervix, colon, and rectum, as well as acute myeloid leukemia

Ron, I started smoking when I was 10 or 12 and quit when I was 18. I started again when I was 26 and quit when I was 32. I started again when I was 44. It wasn't nicotine and it wasn't pleasure that caused that.

Then why did you smoke Steve?

Tuesday, September 11th 2018 at 8:54AM
Dea. Ron Gray Sr.
It was a generational habit Ron. My paternal granparents were from the south and they both were smokers. So my father smoked when I was a child and at a young age I tried it because of its common use at that time. Then there were the cigarette commercials on tv, cigarettes sold from vending machines for a quarter or 2, and sold to kids by the stores if we just said we were getting them for our parents.

Steve, here's the facts in your case, you smoked because you found pleasure in it, the bottom line is, you wanted too. You found out later that the chemicals in the cigarettes cause Cancer. Now if the reason for your mouth cancer was not from chemicals in the cigarettes that cause Cancer, then why did you stop smoking cigarettes?

Ron, you have no standing to say I took pleasure in it. I never said that to anyone because to me it has always sounded extremely stupid to say there was any pleasure in making your mouth taste and smell like an ashtray. If that was your excuse Ron I think you're a liar.

Every one of the 3 times I started smoking was for one root cause only. Because I picked up that first cigarette and smoked it.

Why did you keep up your cigarette habit?

I already told you all this Ron. What exactly are you arguing about?

You said: Nicotine isn't at the root of it, I can tell you that much.

You must have liked what you was doing for you to start back so many times. Do you think that if you was not smoking those cigarettes, you would not caught mouth cancer?

I have no doubt it was smoking that caused the cancer.

I found a recipe I'm going to try. I have ongoing nausea as I'm still healing from the surgery and my doctor recommended it as an alternative to prescription medication.
