Mitch McConnell Calls to Cut Social Security, Medicare
By Nicole Goodkind - NewsWeek

After instituting a $1.5 trillion tax cut and signing off on a $675 billion budget for the Department of Defense, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday that the only way to lower the record-high federal deficit would be to cut entitlement programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

"It’s disappointing but it’s not a Republican problem," McConnell said of the deficit, which grew 17 percent to $779 billion in fiscal year 2018. McConnell explained to Bloomberg that "it’s a bipartisan problem: Unwillingness to address the real drivers of the debt by doing anything to adjust those programs to the demographics of America in the future." The deficit has increased 77 percent since McConnell became majority leader in 2015.

Hey Steve, did you want to pay for the federal deficit by cutting your Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid after nstituting a $1.5 trillion tax cut and signing off on a $675 billion budget for the Department of Defense, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday?

Do Social Security add anything to The National debt? Do you know?

Hey Steve, did you see was happening here?

Thursday, October 18th 2018 at 11:35AM
Deacon Ron Gray
I see you don't want to touch this one.

Thursday, October 18th 2018 at 7:47PM
Deacon Ron Gray
I'll take a look Ron, didn't know until just now your comments here were directed to me.

Thursday, October 18th 2018 at 9:07PM
Steve Williams
Do you go by the name of Steve? If so, I was referring to you.

Now, do you really want to give up your Social Security your Medicare and Medicaid?

Thursday, October 18th 2018 at 9:53PM
Deacon Ron Gray
I had not clicked on this blog Ron, thus had not seen my name. I will read your article and tell you what I think when I've done so.

Thursday, October 18th 2018 at 10:45PM
Steve Williams
When you get through with the article, my question is: "Now, do you really want to give up your Social Security your Medicare and Medicaid?"

Thursday, October 18th 2018 at 11:16PM
Deacon Ron Gray
I don't currently use Medicaid but I have in the past. Like everything, these programs are real problems that are being trivialized for short term political purpose, i.e. the November 6, 2018 election. Are you prepared to have a real conversation about these programs Ron, or have you merely jumped on the bandwagon?

Friday, October 19th 2018 at 9:30AM
Steve Williams
Yes! Let's have a real conversation about these programs.

"Now, do you really want to give up your Social Security your Medicare and Medicaid?"

Friday, October 19th 2018 at 9:39AM
Deacon Ron Gray
Your question is just a talking point Ron. Tell me what you really know about Social Security in 2018.

Friday, October 19th 2018 at 11:31AM
Steve Williams
Talking point my eye Steve, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is setting up in position to con the followers of the GOP to give up there Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and this is happening right before your eyes according to Mitch.

"Now, do you really want to give up your Social Security your Medicare and Medicaid?"

Friday, October 19th 2018 at 12:05PM
Deacon Ron Gray
I am standing- by for your reply....

Friday, October 19th 2018 at 4:43PM
Deacon Ron Gray
I am standing by for a serious conversation.

Saturday, October 20th 2018 at 4:54AM
Steve Williams
That is a very serious for many Americans if they lose their benefits Steve and it looks like after giving the rich that $1.5 trillion tax cut and signing off on a $675 billion budget for the Department of Defense, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell LIED to you and he and the Republicans GOP wants us to fill the gap.

The question is: "Now, do you really want to give up your Social Security your Medicare and Medicaid?"

We went over this just before the elections what Mitch and THE GOP wanted to do, now are you ready?

Saturday, October 20th 2018 at 11:53AM
Deacon Ron Gray
So, Tell me what you really know about Social Security in 2018.

Saturday, October 20th 2018 at 1:47PM
Steve Williams
I now know must more about Social Security in 2018 then I did before this report about what Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had to say about Social Security and our Medicare and Medicaid.

Now, do you really want to give up your Social Security your Medicare and Medicaid?"

Saturday, October 20th 2018 at 1:57PM
Deacon Ron Gray
What I know about Social Security in 2018 is that it hasn't turned out the way those 1930s visionaries said it would. It's badly broke and you 2010s visionaries have no idea how to fix it.

Saturday, October 20th 2018 at 3:12PM
Steve Williams
Hey Steve, do you really want to give up your Social Security your Medicare and Medicaid?"

Saturday, October 20th 2018 at 4:10PM
Deacon Ron Gray
I plan on dying the way those 1930s visionaries envisioned. Does that count Ron?

Saturday, October 20th 2018 at 4:55PM
Steve Williams
I see that you are running all around this question: Hey Steve, do you really want to give up your Social Security your Medicare and Medicaid?"

Those 1930s visionaries envisioned, what are you talking about Steve?

Saturday, October 20th 2018 at 10:55PM
Deacon Ron Gray
They envisioned that we would die in our 60s or at most our 70s. They did not envision all these stubborn buggers hanging around till their 90s or 100s. I am not worried about McConnell's plans Ron. Someone has to fix things for the future generations. Stop being so selfish.

Saturday, October 20th 2018 at 11:15PM
Steve Williams
So, what are you saying Steve? Are you willing to let Mitch McConnell Cut your Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits?

Sunday, October 21st 2018 at 5:26AM
Deacon Ron Gray
I'm willing to let Mitch try Ron.

Sunday, October 21st 2018 at 11:13AM
Steve Williams
Let Mitch try to do what, Steve?

Can you be more clearer.

Sunday, October 21st 2018 at 6:16PM
Deacon Ron Gray
What's wrong Ron, did you forget your own words? "Are you willing to let Mitch McConnell Cut your Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits?"

Sunday, October 21st 2018 at 7:03PM
Steve Williams
Well, "Are you willing to let Mitch McConnell Cut your Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits?"

Sunday, October 21st 2018 at 7:23PM
Deacon Ron Gray
I'm willing to let Mitch try to "Cut your Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits."

Sunday, October 21st 2018 at 9:14PM
Steve Williams

Thank You after all this time WOW!!! Why do you want Mitch to cut your Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits? Do you know that Medicare provided health insurance for over 55 million and About 61 million people collect Social Security benefits each month, and they account for about one in five people in the United States.

Why would you want Mitch McConnell Cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits, for what reason?"

Sunday, October 21st 2018 at 10:01PM
Deacon Ron Gray
I didn't say I "want Mitch to cut your Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits."

Monday, October 22nd 2018 at 4:22AM
Steve Williams
YOUR WORDS: I'm willing to let Mitch try to "Cut your Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits."

MY REPLY: Why would you want Mitch McConnell Cutting Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits, for what reason?"

THEN YOU REPLIED WITH THIS: I didn't say I "want Mitch to cut your Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid benefits."

Then what are you saying?

Monday, October 22nd 2018 at 8:37AM
Deacon Ron Gray
I'M WILLING TO LET MITCH TRY. I don't want him to but I'm willing to let him try, because Social Security is facing insolvency and that is a fact. You Ron act like money grows on trees.

Monday, October 22nd 2018 at 3:15PM
Steve Williams
NO Steve, I agree with you, money don't grow on trees but you did not say a thing when Trump, Mitch and The GOP constituted a $1.5 trillion tax cut, a tax give a way to the rich and the upper classes and signed off on a $675 billion budget for the Department of Defense, that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell over seen. You remember that, don't you?

YOUR WORDS: Social Security is facing insolvency and that is a fact.

My Reply: Not at this time. Social Security is NOT facing insolvency, Steve, YOU ARE PROMOTING A LIE!!!

“The 2012 Trustees Report shows that Social Security is 100 percent solvent until 2033, but faces a moderate long-term shortfall. In 2011, Social Security had a surplus - revenue plus interest income in excess of outgo — of $69 billion. Reserves are projected to grow to $3.2 trillion by the end of 2020 and MITCH and his BOYS would love to put their hand on that prize. So. MITCH and the GOP is willing to tell you that LIE because they need your vote, to pull this theft off.

This wish by Mitch to cut Social Security is not warranted at this time and by the end of 2020 Social Security will have a Reserve of $3.2 trillion and if Social Security would be in trouble down the line, All congress has to do is to take the cap off of wage earners of $113,700.00 annually, anybody making more, don't pay into Social Security any way.

Social Security needs to tax at least 90% of all wages in America, but because the rich are getting richer and the middle class is stagnating, too much tax exempt wage gains are going to earners who make more than 113,700.00 a year. As a result, only 80% of all wages are now subject to Social Security taxes. Now Steve, that finding is according to NASI, the National Association of Social Insurance.

To insure the viability of Social Security, we simply need to eliminate the cap and do some modest means testing for top earners. These changes can insure solvency for another 75 years and not the cuts that Mitch McConnell now want to impose on the American people and which you want to give MITCH that free hand, WOW!!!.

By the way Steve, why are you WILLING TO LET MITCH TRY when he is telling you a LIE about the sovereignty of Social Security in the first place?

Now that you know THE FACT that Social Security can’t, by law, add to the federal deficit because Social Security is self-funded, do you still want Mitch McConnell LIED to The America people about Cutting Social Security, when it would not make no change to the National Debt?

Monday, October 22nd 2018 at 6:04PM
Deacon Ron Gray
You are the one lying about Social Security solvency Ron. It's been in trouble for a long time and it seems you all will never face up to that. People are living way longer than expected and the number of persons paying into the system is way lower than expected. Less money coming in and more money going out is an untenable position. I don't need Mitch to tell me that and I don't need you to give me that BS that Social Security solvency has a damn thing to do with tax cuts and reform.

Monday, October 22nd 2018 at 11:29PM
Steve Williams
What part of “The 2012 Trustees Report that shows Social Security is 100 percent solvent until 2033, that is 15 years into the future, that you don't understand, Steve? Ask yourself this question: Why do you think Mitch wants to make cuts in Social Security now for?

YOUR WORDS: You are the one lying about Social Security solvency Ron.

MY REPLY: Show us your proof that by law that Social Security added one red cent to the Nations debt, can you do that Steve?

Reserves are projected to grow to $3.2 trillion by the end of 2020 and MITCH and his BOYS would love to put their hand on that prize. So. MITCH and the GOP is willing to tell you that LIE because they need your vote, to pull this theft off.

How do you feel about that?

YOUR WORKS: Less money coming in and more money going out is an untenable position.

My Reply: Steve, you really, sound like a person that really don't know how or where that money is being invested.

Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at 12:18AM
Deacon Ron Gray
Social Security is simple Ron. It's separate from taxes, deficits and debt. It's a trust, the government collects funds from the employed and disburses those funds to those retired or disabled. Now what the hell are you talking about, cuts to "entitlements"!

Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at 1:49AM
Steve Williams
If Social Security is separate from taxes, deficits and debt, then why do you want to let Mitch try to cut Social Security in the first place, for what?

YOUR WORDS: I'M WILLING TO LET MITCH TRY. I don't want him to but I'm willing to let him try, because Social Security is facing insolvency and that is a fact. You Ron act like money grows on trees.

Monday, October 22nd 2018 at 3:15PM

Where is your proof that Social Security is facing insolvency, for you to promote that LIE in the First Place STEVE?

If Social Security was running into money problems, all MITCH and the GOP has to do is to take the cap off of wage earners of $113,700.00 annually, because anybody making more, don't pay into Social Security any way and watch the money roll into Social Security, enough money to fund Social Security for the next 75 Years.

That is what I ' am talking about, now prove me WRONG, can you do THAT Steve?

Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at 8:38AM
Deacon Ron Gray
No Ron, I don't want the cap taken off. That would be unfair.

Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at 3:18PM

Unfair to WHO Steve, The Rich?

Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at 5:26PM
Deacon Ron Gray
Ron. I had been reaching the cap for a few years before I retired. 20 years ago the cap was somewhere below the 90,000 or so I was making at the time. I don't remember exactly. I had 5 kids and a wife I was supporting at the time and I was working my ass off. I was not rich you selfish prick!

Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at 7:41PM
Steve Williams
You greedy mother****ers always have your entitled hands out don't you?

Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at 7:43PM
Steve Williams
Hey Steve, I Did not ask you about how you been reaching the cap or where the cap was.

I did asked you, "Unfair to WHO Steve, The Rich?"

YOUR WORD: You greedy mother****ers always have your entitled hands out don't you?

No younger, I 'am not greedy Steve, I did mine the old fashion way, I earned it. Young Blood. Now go and respect yourself.

Stop getting so emotional Steve because people who say those things is at the end of there intelligences. WOW!!

Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at 9:36PM
Deacon Ron Gray
Okay Ron, let me put it this way. I will always support with my vote, those who are in 2018 in the same position as I was in 1997. The people you call rich deserve every cent they make. It belongs to them not you, you lazy ass.

Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at 9:48PM
Steve Williams
Okay Steve, Didn't Trump, MITCH and the GOP give a tax break to people who did not ask for it or who needs those TAX breaks for the first place.

As far as my Social Security, this money is mine in the first place and I deserve every cent because it belongs to me and I 'am not rich and I get off my ass going to work Steve, for 36 years. Now you want MITCH to cut that benefit out, WHY?

Social Security didn't cause the nations deficits so, why cut those benefits that people like me worked for?

Tuesday, October 23rd 2018 at 10:19PM
Deacon Ron Gray
I worked for those benefits too Ron, paltry though they may be. I want something better for future generations and the tax cut was a good first step. Social Security was always a harebrained idea and I hope Mitch can do something to straiten it out.

Wednesday, October 24th 2018 at 12:34AM
Steve Williams
Can you explain this chart Ron?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Security_(United_States)#/media/File%3AMedicare%2C_Medicaid%2C_and_social_security_spending.png

How can MITCH help Social Security, by taken money from the poorest of us? There is nothing WRONG with Social Security, it works!

You have not shown our readership how Social Security part in The National Debt?

Wednesday, October 24th 2018 at 3:51AM
Deacon Ron Gray
Social Security should not be part of the national debt Ron. I think that Congress has done something shady. I do know that YOU think that Social Security has something to do with tax cuts. Maybe YOU should explain THAT to the BIA readership.

Wednesday, October 24th 2018 at 9:07AM
Steve Williams
YOUR WORDS: Social Security should not be part of the national debt Ron.

MY REPLY: Social Security is not apart of the National Debt Steve. That is exactly what I told you Steve from the start. Social Security is not apart of The National Debt by "LAW" and you have not REFUTED THAT FACT YET, WHY? Where did you get that LIE from?

YOUR WORDS: I do know that YOU think that Social Security has something to do with tax cuts.

MY REPLY: NO you don't. You can't point to anything or anywhere, where I said that Social Security has something to do with tax cuts, now can you?

YOUR WORDS: YOU should explain THAT to the BIA readership.

MY REPLY: I feel that there is nothing I can say to promote that LIE you are telling, sorry Stevie, I am not the ONE to help you spread that LIE.

Steve, I am looking at the pile of $2.6 trillion in assets built up by Social Security, and says, correctly, that Social Security did not add to the debt; it is indeed a creditor to the United States.

Now I am obviously concerned that the federal government has to pay its debts, but it pales in comparison to the trillions, that
FEDERAL government has taken and borrowed from Social Security.

Now I still want to know where is your proof that Social Security is facing insolvency at this time and point. and also, that Social Security is apart of the National Debt?

Wednesday, October 24th 2018 at 3:03PM
Deacon Ron Gray
You said yourself Ron that Social Security is part of the national debt. You said "it is indeed a creditor to the United States."

Wednesday, October 24th 2018 at 9:24PM
Steve Williams
Now explain Ron, how it came about that the Federal Government raided the Social Security trust fund.
