Cindy Hyde-Smith stumbles in Senate debate

The Republican senator had a notepad pre-loaded with notes. It didn't seem to help.

I WATCHED THIS VIDEO!

The first known execution by the State of Mississippi was July 16, 1818, in Adams County with the hanging of George H. Harman, a white male, for “stealing a Negro.” Since then, the state has conducted 794 known executions. Of those executed, 639 have been black males, 117 white males, 19 black females, 2 Indian males, and 16 individuals not completely identified either by gender or by race. No white females are known to have been executed by the state.

Hanging, or the gallows, was the method of execution in Mississippi until 1940, when lawmakers replaced it with the electric chair. The gas chamber replaced electrocution in 1955, and the chamber was replaced by lethal injection in 2002.

This is great information but executions by The State of Mississippi was never mentioned in this video Steve. Now I could be wrong, if so, point out where in this video report that executions by The State of Mississippi was mentioned in this video Steve, can you do that for me?

Now let us explore what was said by Cindy Hyde-Smith. "if he invited me to a public hanging I'd be on the front row."

Steve, do you support what Cindy Hyde-Smith said as a hopeful running for the Senate?

I Asked you just two questions this time, OK!

The subject of this blog IS execution by hanging in the state of Mississippi. That's what the words "public hanging" refer to. Think Ron, don't let your MSNBC news gods lead you around like this. A public hanging is NOT the same as lynching by a MOB.

Friday, November 23rd 2018 at 10:30AM
Steve Williams
A public execution is a form of capital punishment which "members of the general public may voluntarily attend."[1] This definition excludes the presence of a small number of witnesses randomly selected to assure executive accountability.[2]

While today most countries regard public executions with distaste, in the past they were preferred to executions behind closed doors because they allowed the convicted the opportunity to make a final speech, gave the state the chance to display its power in front of those who fell under its jurisdiction, and granted the public what was considered to be a great spectacle.[3]

Since there have not been a public hanging by the State of Mississippi in over 78 years, very few people alive has seen a public hanging but the history and imagery of public lynching in Mississippi is still vivid in the minds of all people who believe that lynching is wrong and that has nothing to do with MSNBC at all Steve.

A grand uncle of mine was Lynched in Mississippi just by setting on his front porch when a gang of HEATHENS in hoods was just driving by.

Steve, People in heard that DOG WHISTLE loud and clear and saw Cindy Hyde-Smith weak ass apology right after she got mounting criticism republicans in her support group.

For t he second time now I asked you this question: "Do you support what Cindy Hyde-Smith said as a hopeful running for the Senate?"

If I were a Mississippi resident I would vote for her, sure Ron.

Friday, November 23rd 2018 at 7:47PM

Why would you vote for Cindy Hyde-Smith?

Friday, November 23rd 2018 at 9:44PM

Why would I vote for a DEMOCRAT? Yuck.

Especially a race opportunist Democrat.

I do like Joe Manchin though. I'd vote for him.

WOW!!! So you would vote for someone who spews this: "if he invited me to a public hanging I'd be on the front row." and you see DEMOCRAT? Yuck.

A racist comment is all it took, then you was there already. WOW!!! and you and your family been in this country 3 or 4 generations, is very interesting.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr.
What does Etsy offer Ron? He did the sensible thing at first, then when he saw you people pile on, he did too. Show me a Democrat that isn't a Trump hater and a race baiter. I only know of one and only that one would get my vote.

So you would vote for someone who spews this: "if he invited me to a public hanging I'd be on the front row?

Does Cindy Hyde-Smith have your sentiment and your believes in mind?
Saturday, November 24th 2018 at 10:47AM
Dea. Ron Gray Sr.
I don't know what "Cindy Hyde-Smith have your sentiment and your believes in mind?" means. It's not my business to know. I'm only interested to see if she gets elected, which would be a good thing, one more Republican one less Democrat in the Senate. I thought it was you Ron that wants two-party rule?

Saturday, November 24th 2018 at 12:19PM
Steve Williams
You do know what came out of her mouth, that you know for a FACT and you know for a FACT that her statement was a DOG WHISTLE to the racist with that comment and it appears that she can't think for herself and easily lead by the nose, that right Steve, that is what the people of Mississippi needs, another mindless Trump vote, as the war between the Republicans continues.

Did you see her note on her podium, talking points and it looks like that woman can't read the talking points she got. Did you see that Steve?

Saturday, November 24th 2018 at 12:36PM
Dea. Ron Gray Sr.
I saw that Ron. If you heard a dog whistle I guess there's a good reason. I'm not a MISSISSIPPI voter so I will wait and see what MISSISSIPPI decides, but my guess is it will be that Republicans end up 3.

Saturday, November 24th 2018 at 12:43PM

So Steve, WHY would support and vote for someone who spews this: "if he invited me to a public hanging I'd be on the front row." out of her own mouth, WHY?

Saturday, November 24th 2018 at 1:27PM
Dea. Ron Gray Sr.
I'll answer that Ron, when you give me all the details surrounding that "bite". Who was she referring to, when and where it was said, who recorded it, what was the question that prompted her saying it and who asked it... Among others.

Saturday, November 24th 2018 at 2:47PM

Stop your stalling BULL💩 all you have to do is watch this video and if you wanted to know the answer to those questions, you would have them by now, Steve.

WHY would support and vote for someone who spews this: "if he invited me to a public hanging I'd be on the front row." out of her own mouth, WHY?

Dea. Ron Gray Sr.
You did see that Cindy Hyde-Smith was trying her best to read her apology without any success as she stumble with that ingenuous statement because that was no APOLOGY at all.

When a person is clearly making an apology and mean it, they don't have to read it from no notes or paper, they look you right in your eyes and make their heartfelt Apology and not that BULL💩 of what we saw her do in this report.

Now that is who you favor as a member of the Senate, WOW!!!

White says he isn't sure what Hyde-Smith meant by the remark, but he says "it's not anything I've ever heard anyone say in the South as a joke." He also says he had no qualms about posting the comment online.

"As volatile as our politics are, and as volatile as racial dynamics are in this country, we need people to expose the truth," says White. "And the truth about this woman, it seems, is that she's been getting away with, sort of, implicit or casual racism, perhaps unwittingly, for most of her life."

White says the response to his Twitter post has been overwhelmingly supportive, except for a handful of menacing remarks from "a few white supremacist, racist types."

"There was one guy," says White, "who sarcastically thanked me for forever ruining the word 'hanging'-- as if we lived in the Wild West or something."

Governor Bryant came to her defense saying that everyone in public life has said things on occasion that they could have phrased better.

“When you make as many public speeches as we do in public life that does occur. But I know this woman and I know her heart, I knew it when I appointed her and I know it now. She meant no offense by that statement, there is nothing in her heart of ill will,” said Gov. Bryant.

He went on to add that statements can often be spun a certain way on social media to create the meaning desired. But the questions did not stop there. Reporters continued to urge Hyde-Smith to give some explanation for her comment and why there was no acknowledgement that there were individuals hurt by what she said.

The Governor continued to come to her defense saying that he knows her and that hurt nor ill will were her intent.

“Remember we are in the middle of a political campaign. Those that oppose Cindy Hyde-Smith will take advantage of this,” said Gov. Bryant. “You might want to ask yourself where the video came from. I’m not blaming the person that took it but it was clearly designed for political purpose.”

“You might want to ask yourself where the video came from. I’m not blaming the person that took it but it was clearly designed for political purpose.”

The taking of the video was never the problem, but it was the content of the message from Cindy Hyde-Smith, that is in question and Gov. Bryant can't put that milk back in the bottle.

Sorry Steve but do you agree with what Cindy Hyde-Smith has said: "If he invited me to a public hanging I'd be on the front row?

I understand what she meant by it and I don't think it's offensive. That's sure not what Lamar White wants you to think she meant by it. Why is this sound bite only 10 seconds? Why doesn't Lamar White want us to see the full 30 minutes?

Public hangings are distasteful to most people. Cindy Hyde-Smith is a hick and what she said is just a distasteful hick saying. Insensitive but not racist, not worth electing a Democrat over. Besides that Ron, why is Lamar White afraid to release his full 30 minute video?

YOUR WORDS: Public hangings are distasteful to most people.

MY REPLY: That may be true. Steve, do you find Public hangings distasteful?

YOUR WORDS: Cindy Hyde-Smith is a hick and what she said is just a distasteful hick saying.

MY REPLY: No Steve, What Cindy Hyde-Smith said is apart of Mississippi's recent past. Here is what those hick's did in February of this year under the Trump administration governance: Those same hick's that you are trying to play off, Hanged a 21 year-old black male in Mississippi on February 8, 2018 of this year.

Black Male Found Hanging From Tree in Mississippi By WXXV - February 16, 2018 https://www.wxxv25.com/2018/02/16/black-ma... Steve, that was more then distasteful, that was MURDER, in your attempt to play what Cindy Hyde-Smith said was just distasteful. THAT IS A LIE AND YOU KNOW IT!

Hanging is a hate crime and Cindy Hyde-Smith said: If he (TALKING ABOUT THIS PERSON THAT SHE WAS ENDORSING, said, she would be on the front row of a MURDER of a Black person and she had no shame about it until news of a video came to surface and then all you and the racist came out to defend her. WOW!!! just like clock work.

YOUR WORDS: Insensitive but not racist,

MY REPLY: Cindy Hyde-Smith knows exactly what she said and that is the reason why she will not go into detail, about what she meant but yet people like you will run to her defense, to try and put a softer spin to that racist BULL💩 that she had spewed and got busted for it.

MY REPLY: Quick Question: Steve, what was the purpose of public hanging or some may call it a public lynching, in the first place?

Hangings of Black Men and Women was meant to send a message of HATE to the locals to keep order and White Rule or racial suppression over the Black community.

You are you trying to make excuses for Cindy Hyde-Smith wanting to be on the front row of a hanging Steve, when the one who made the comment won't explain what she means by her own Statement: ""if he invited me to a public hanging I'd be on the front row." out of her own mouth, WHY?

What I'm doing Ron is DISPUTING the meaning of PUBLIC HANGING. It means public execution and if you had any SENSE you'd be THINKING about these numbers: "...794 known executions. Where do Mississippi’s Senate candidates stand on criminal justice? It’s hard to tell by perusing their campaign websites – none of which dedicate space to issues of criminal justice.

But Mississippi currently incarcerates people at a rate higher than the national average – some 19,000 people are in state custody, and another 30,000 on parole and probation. The state is also home to one federal facility, in Yazoo City, and a privately owned prison in Tutwiler.

Mississippi Today asked leading candidates’ campaigns for their stances on criminal justice, what they think should be done about the mandatory minimum sentences currently in place in the federal system and whether they’re concerned about current prison conditions in Mississippi. Here’s what they said:
