One of the biggest thing that has happen in my opinion, one of the biggest reforms in decades has just passed the senate is called "The First Step Act. it is a sweeping bipartisan bill that overhauls parts of ^The Federal Criminal Justice System.

Supporters say it makes the system faired, reduce prison overcrowding and save taxpayers money.

Now if you have seen this report, I welcome your comments on this subject.

The fact that it passed 87 to 12 and will be signed by the President is notable. The fact that you people would give credit to the President and his son-in-law is almost unbelievable.

I wish it were a sign of times to come but it's probably just a fluke.

Let us explore what this bill does. It take several steps to ease mandatory minimum sentences for non violent drug offenders, it reduces the three-strike penalty from life behind bars to 25 years, it helps inmates earn reduced sentences for good behavior and provides programs to help reduce recidivism or a repeat of the crimes that got them into prison in the first place.

Now this only affects federal prisons which I find this very important for a first step to reform the prisons systems, in my opinion.

So why did it take Stephanie so long to get onboard?

I don't know what you mean, Stephanie is simply reporting this breaking news. In my opinion, adjusting mandatory minimums for lower-level, nonviolent criminal offenders also saves a significant amount of money which can be used to target the worst offenders such as drug kingpins and violent criminals. Second, states that have seen the biggest drops in crime from criminal justice reform didn’t just do prison reform. They did sentencing reform too.”

You don't know what I mean Ron because you don't watch Stephanie every morning as I do. Fox News kept me up to date on the First Step Act, but Stephanie was OBSESSED with Mueller and all things NEGATIVE to Trump.

In the wake of talk of a government shutdown there was a real bipartisanship taken part with this First Step Act. 87-12 now that was a big deal. In my opinion this First Step Act is very important because inside all of these prisons are people in them that is disproportionate to the population of the country and do deserve to have their lives throw away.

The First Step Act was in the works for a long time. Nobody should be asking after the fact, what it is. Especially as it has such great support. So when did you first hear about it Ron? And if it was before just recently, why would you not have posted about it?

I did not know anything about The First Step Act at all until here recently and as soon as I heard of it, I posted it. In my opinion, this act is overdue. What do you think about it Steve?

I'm a supporter of the First Step Act. Instead of Joe feigning outrage over Kushner meeting Whitaker he should have been praising Kushner as a major force behind the passage of this law.

Kushner did something right in this case.

So today on this very show, Velshi and Ruhle, Ali showed just where his priorities are. At the signing of this First Step Act, where many gave their praise for it, Van Jones among others of liberal persuasion, Ali saw fit to cover only the first part where the President spoke about the border wall funding. After that the First Step Act signing ceremony, apparently didn't warrant his attention or ours.

I 'am very sorry, I did not see Velshi and Ruhle, this morning. Now let us get back to this report. one thing that caught my eye was the FACT that The United States of America has 5% of The Worlds population but we have 25% of the world prison population in the world .

As long as you understand Velshi and Ruhle are not the go-to sources on these matters. Plus, I think Stephanie may be going through menopause.
