Successful International Multi-Millionaire Entrepreneur, Film Producer, and Actor Tariku Bogale to visit HBCUs (3045 hits)

Bogale will discuss the importance of Historically Black Colleges and will donate copies of his own autobiography, Untouchable, to students.

Tariku Bogale--a successful international multi-millionaire entrepreneur, author, film producer, actor, writer, and philanthropist—will tour Historically Black Colleges across 15-20 U.S. states to raise awareness about the importance of these iconic educational institutions, it was announced today by Bogale. Besides discussing the need to help disadvantaged colleges and universities, Bogale will also donate copies of his own autobiography, Untouchable, to encourage young people to read more.

“Education is the means by which all people can become successful,” said Bogale. “I am proof of that. I went from a penniless, homeless person in South Africa to becoming the first black professional to earn a Foreign Exchange License in South Africa.”

As an adolescent Bogale left Ethiopia on his own to reach South Africa and build a better life for himself. Shortly after crossing into Tanzania he was arrested by the police for entering without papers and thrown into an adult men’s prison in Dar es Salaam. Later after being released from prison he attended a school where he learned computers. Since then he has become an entrepreneur extraordinaire, doing business across a variety of industries, including Travel and Tourism, Retail, Real Estate, Finance, Technology, and Media and Commercial Filmmaking. Among the companies he has founded and developed is Africa Holdings, LLC—"a registered company under New York State law to Invest, Consult and Facilitate Trade and Investment in Africa, Middle East and Europe.” https://www.tarikubogale.com/

According to the U.S. Department of Education and The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, defines an HBCU as: “…any historically black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of black Americans, and that is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association determined by the Secretary [of Education] to be a reliable authority as to the quality of training offered or is, according to such an agency or association, making reasonable progress toward accreditation.” (http://hbcuconnect.com/)
