Can you believe that Trump gave the order to U.S. troops to fire on peaceful U.S. protesters so he could walk across the street to a church for a photo op, can you believe this?

Steve, do you believe that Trump did the right thing to the peaceful protesters, for a photo op?

Tuesday, June 2nd 2020 at 7:00PM
Deacon Ron Gray
They weren't peaceful protestors and yes, it was entirely appropriate for President Trump the clear the mob out of his path so he could show the "peacefully" burned out national church of the Presidents. Don't you think so Ron?

Steve, you can stop that LIE right now! Reports say, a number of GOP senators did express at the very least public discomfort at the notion that the president would use his power to disperse a peaceful protest in pursuit of political theater. And the group included several lawmakers not known for being frequent or even occasional Trump critics.

Others, including Sens. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Ben Sasse (R-NE) used words like “photo op” and “political prop” to describe what Trump did on Monday. Meanwhile, other usually stalwart allies didn’t do much to defend him, with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) saying he didn’t know what the president was trying to accomplish.

Some republicans who called Trump’s conduct “fascist”—as well as the criticism from some figures in the Republican Party and from a pastor at St. John’s Church who was gassed on Monday night.

Steve, Can you show the people here on Black In America your proof that the crowd of protesters at the White House was not peaceful?

Nobody was "gassed" Ron. Your history begins yesterday but mine goes back to Friday. I'll find it.

Fox News Correspondent Chased By Washington, D.C. Protestors

A correspondent for Fox News Channel was harassed and chased by protesters in Washington, D.C., the latest example of TV journalists facing potential harm as they try to do their regular job of chronicling events as they happen.

Leland Vittert, a Fox News staffer who has been with the cable-news outlet since 2010, is no stranger to reporting from roiled settings. He has served as a foreign correspondent in Jerusalem and has previously reported from protest scenes. But he found himself in a dangerous situation early Saturday morning when some members of a crowd of protesters in Washington D.C.’s Lafayette Park, outside the White House, began to move toward him, chanting at him and chasing him as he and his crew and security personnel tried to leave the scene,

He remained at the boarded-up building for a matter of minutes before returning inside the White House. The exterior of the church had been defaced during protests outside the White House Sunday, and there had been a small fire in the parish house basement but church leaders said in a statement that the structure was largely “untouched.”

“We have the greatest country in the world,” Trump said outside the building.

Beyond using the church as a backdrop, Budde criticized Trump’s use of a Bible during the visit, which he held up as he posed for cameras.

“Let me be clear: The President just used a Bible, the most sacred text of the Judeo-Christian tradition, and one of the churches of my diocese, without permission, as a backdrop for a message antithetical to the teachings of Jesus,” she said.

The episode follows nearly a week of protests across the country that at times have turned violent over the death of Floyd, a 46-year-old African American man who died at the hands of a police officer in Minneapolis.

While still at the White House Monday evening, Trump declared himself “your president of law and order,” and vowed to return order to American streets using the military if widespread violence isn’t quelled.

“If a city or state refuses to take the actions necessary to defend the life and property of their residents, then I will deploy the United States military and quickly solve the problem for them,” he said.

The address came after he had been angered by news coverage depicting him holed up in an underground bunker amid protests in Washington. He told aides on Monday he wanted to be seen outside the White House gates, according to a person familiar with the matter, which is part of what drove the decision to stage the photo-op at St. John’s Church.

But Budde stressed Monday that his presence in front of the church — and his response to the nationwide protests — were both unwelcome.

“What I am here to talk about is the abuse of sacred symbols for the people of faith in this country to justify language, rhetoric, an approach to this crisis that is antithetical to everything we stand for.”

The Episcopal Church has repeatedly refuted Trump on a range of issues including proposed cuts to social services and the construction of a wall on the US southern border.

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword:
His truth is marching on.

Glory, Glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.

Who burned the church? While you're at it Ron show me Joy Reid aka sushi-head's coverage Saturday OR Sunday about "peaceful" protestors.

P.S. smoke canisters and pepper balls were used, no tear gas. The latest word on that has come from Esper himself.

.....deaCON and russians do not respect their SUBJECT or me much....so I will ask the BIA, researcher a question...

1. What does the law say?

The 1878 federal law known as the Posse Comitatus Act......bars the use of the active-duty U.S. military -- the Army, Navy,

Air Force and Marines -- from carrying out domestic law enforcement. ??

....OF course I do not think there was an Air Force in 1878 or much of a domestic law enforcement....

Was this law for the South....so slave COLORED'white' Patrols and new KKK could do their thing to COLORED'blacks'?

Who burned the church? Who knows. That is not the point here. I gave you five sources that told you that the crowd of peaceful protestors in Washington, D.C. was GASED.

Wednesday, June 3rd 2020 at 3:37PM
Deacon Ron Gray
Robert, I've heard that Grant signed laws to fight the KKK and that it also involved the NRA but it's one of those things that people seem not to want to get to the bottom of. I took a look at the insurrection act on wikipedia and there was a warning to question the community editors because of recent events. In general I'm not too satisfied with my understanding of that period except it seems to be repeating itself
