We will share REAL insights in support of the music!
On May 14th 2024 the House of Representatives approved legislation declaring the “State of Mississippi” as the “Birthplace” of “Southern Soul Music” as many celebrate the milestone we salute them and the men, and women who are no longer with us! Many pioneers have always known the birthplace of Southern Soul Music, and this is awesome!
With the onset of Podcasts, Internet Radio, DJs outlets, Public Relations, and others making an impact as it relates to bringing exposure to the Southern Soul Movement.
But, is it a smoke screen in an environment of cliques and socialites running from clubs and businesses that have no audience to get bodies into their respective establishments. Which often results in the artist entertaining a club that is empty! As it has previously been stated, show us the demographics and we will show you the road to success, what is needed is more focus on establishing dedicated communities to support our artists.
Now let’s talk about “breaking music,” or is that a reality today since music is more regulated due to the algorithms and copyright. So, for all podcasts, DJs, and internet radio is that a reality? Since terrestrial radio has not and will not add these artists to their playlists.
However, these same entities will advertise and serve as hosts for events where Southern Soul artists are headlining the event?! You capitalize on a market you don't air or stream on your platforms?!! Make it make sense, because all we hear on radio today is outdated or limited new releases!
Besides the lack of demographics, another issue on the Southern Soul scene is there are too many individuals who lack the experience needed in the job they aspire to reach. Everyone knows when it comes to being a professional in any field it requires skills.
