**The City of New Orleans Declared “Back That Azz Up Day” on June 11th, a “Proclamation” was issued by “The Honorable” Mayor LaToya Cantrell. This was a historical moment for Juvenile, Lil Wayne, and Mannie Fresh - all three are natives of New Orleans.

With the onset of trailride style music and videos now dominating the “Southern Soul Music” scene many pioneers are wondering what’s next?! Will we begin to witness more influences in the industry from the “GoGo,” “Zydeco,” “Bounce,” or “Country” music communities. As the genre evolves there are some that wonder if southern soul music will ever be able to stand alone as a genre?!
But, this can be viewed as great news because these types of collaborations bring a variety of influencers, the motorcycle clubs, cowboys/cowgirls and fans, the sling shot communities, Media, DJ Outlets, Photographers, Promoters, and others that are making an impact in bringing more exposure to the movement.
The summer vibes are heating up across the South Region with community events featuring some of the best artists in “Southern Soul Music,” free local events give artists an opportunity to share their talent with their local community in an effort to promote the artists.
In addition, these events help the artist build a dedicated local audience since demographics are crucial to the longevity of the movement. So, if you have ever desired to express yourself as singer or musician join the movement! Do yourself a favor, show up, and show out, you only live once let the vibes take you there.
Now, let’s talk about “breaking music” or is that a reality today since music is more regulated due to the algorithms and copyright. Yes, it is a reality because many DJs and Hosts continue to stream music in a streaming world, while big brother continue to block the music and live streams. But, the music will stream rather it’s blocked or not, we are on a mission and nothing will stop or delay the vision!
So, if you haven’t heard already people get ready for the “Southern Soul Movement” train as the entertainment continues from club to club, city to city, and coast to coast with individuals being enlisted daily. Because they are “Backing That Thang Up” worldwide, in the meantime please support the music and the movement!
