IS OBAMA REALLY THE BEST CHOICE????? (502 hits)

I know I'm probably gonna get a lot of flack for this; but it's just been on my mind and I figured I'd put it out there.

Now, I think it is obvious to anyone who pays a little attention that this country is run by the richest of the rich. The top 1 to 3 percent of the population. They dictate the direction in which the country goes. If you didn't know, well now you do. I often think back to some of my poli sci classes and get a disturbing feeling. I look at Obama and can't help but think there's an ulterior motive to his nomination. If you know anything about the true nature of politics then you know that if certain people in this country don't want a person's run or campaign to be successful then it wont. There are actually people out there whose job it is to kill peoples campaign.

Knowing that, I can't help but look at Obama and think there is something else to it. Some how he's going to hurt the black community if he wins. If feel bad when I think this way; but the only reason Obama is where he is today is because the elites want him there. The few people who control this country want him there. I can't help but think, if they want him there, should I?

Am I alone in this thinking/feeling?

Thanks for having the courage to express this sentiment. It is certain to be unpopular but I can understand your perspective.

Here's my 2 cents-

We've got two choices for president. Strip away the person and look at the groups: Republican or Democrat.

The Republican party believes that folks with proven records of making money are the best folks to make decisions about money. Once these people (companies/ corporations) make sound business decisions, there will be enough money to ensure citizen needs are covered: health care, wages, etc. This group is often charged with giving big breaks to the wealthy and/or big business. As well, some of the most faithful Republicans (right-wing) believe that States should make their own rules and the US Constitution is in its most perfect form; doesn't need changing. If a particular State wishes to do it's own thing...so be it!

The Democrats believe that the government has a responsibility to look out for the best interest of its citizens. Rather than allowing businesses to control the money, this group feels the government should control the pennies to ensure there are resources available for most (or all) its citizens: health care, welfare, etc. This group is often charged as the "Tax & Spent" group. In this group's most faithful (left-wing), State rights are seen as less important as uniformed rule...i.e...the government (constitution) should/can change to reflect the changing will of the people....and changes to the constitution should be enforced in the States.

So ask yourself which one fits you best and them figure out which person represents which group. At the end of the day...both candidates are beholden to their group...sad...but true.

My Sista! I love the fact that you are not afraid to allow youself to be heard for most of us know that the true movers and shakers of this world are not always popular, at least in the beginning anyway.

I do want to share my thoughts on the subject you raised though. While I agree that Obama's success is partially based on the powers that be wanting him to have the measure of success that he is experiencing. The other part in my humble opinion comes from his GOD given talent of being to reach people of all genres by addressing every day and real life issues. I only hope that Barack can remain true to the spirit of the message that has catapulted him to where he is today after he is placed in office.

Thanks for letting me share...

I would like to thank all that responded. Yes, I'm aware that we only have two choices. Yes, I understand what the Republican party wants. I'm going to vote for Obama simply because I don't want McCain. It scares me to my core that the powers that be want Obama to. Yes, he's a good speaker; and yes he has the ability to move people, but our current President has shown us that is not needed to be President. So, I don't look at his ability to do those things as what is propelling him forward. There is something else there; and I feel we need to be aware of that, so when that rug gets pulled out from under us we can still stand. I just feel there is a hitch or something that goes a long with having Obama as President. There is small print there that we don't see.

Thank you Karen for your comment; but I'm not speaking to hope. I hope great things for Obama and what he has the possibility of accomplishing. I'm also very aware of how the political machine works, how this country works. It's that knowledge that has me questioning and looking for the catch; because trust me, there is a catch. I can hope for great things, yet still see the situation for what it truly is. Hope springs eternal, but life is life.
