Just As I Am I Come (224 hits)

There's a very powerful spiritual song that is almost unheard of in today's churches and it is titled "Just As I Am". The first verse says; "Just as I am without one plea but that thou blood was shed for me, and that thou bidst me to come to thee, oh lamb of God I come".

There's a perplexity in that verse. In fact there's a problem in our society and it is very deeply rooted in the social presence of the 'organizational church'. We want people to clean up their act before they give their lives to the Lord, yet some of the most screwed up/messed up people are in the church(where they belong). What is so interesting is that a lot of folk will never 'get saved and come to the Lord' because the people have runned Christ out of the church. What else is interesting is that Christ is out in the streets especially with 'home boy', 'the ho', 'the pimp', and the rest of our friends.

They wont come to the Lord because they feel that they are messed up and the Lord is saying to them 'come because you are messed up'.

Now I'm going to give you a very weard/stupid illustration and I want to see how many of you inteligent people reading this will be decerning enough to get it:

Now I want you to(make sure you're alone) hold up your right hand and fold all of your fingers except the 'middle one'. Now you know, generally speaking, what that middle finger symbolizes(don't worry I'm not going to use the 'F' word). It symbolizes that you or the other person is 'messed up'. Now put that finger down and raise up the finger next to the thumb. That finger represent so many things. A few in particular are 1) number one, 2) one in the spirit, and 3) Christ the Lord is number one in our lives. Now keep that finger up and also raise up the middle finger. Together they form the symbol for the word VICTORY. Of all the times we've used that symbol the one that stands out is 'Victory in Christ'. Now reflect on the power of symbols and particularly the three that you've held up. Remember 'truth is like a shadow hidden in darkness'. If you pay attention to the symbols it simply says "that you can really be messed up and come to Christ and have VICTORY.

But you have to remember you can come to Him as you are but you can't stay that way. "Everyone must change, nothing stays the same"

Just as I am and waiting not, to rid my soul of one dark blot, to thee whose blood can cleanse each spot, oh lamb of God I come, JUST AS I AM.

Be Blessed
