Words, Just Words! (205 hits)

There are so many rumors, opinions, and so much speculation surrounding the Clintons that everyday the task of Obama being elected becomes more daunting. Aside from the fact that there are some people who just will not vote for a black man, and that does include some black people, all this Clinton drama is dominating the conversation. Last week Hillary Clinton called Barack Obama her opponent. This I know for a fact because I heard it. My opinion is that Hillary is still running.

Now, people are insinuating that if Obama loses that it is because he mishandled the Clintons, and maybe he did, but this is utter BS. Hillary has never conceded and probably never will. Again, as I did last night in one of my comments, I must invoke this scripture, "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." (Gen 50:20). I always have to go to scripture when I am feeling disturbed.

Interestingly enough, I agree with Hillary about how important this election is, but it might be a case of; right words, wrong sentiment. (“Words, just words!”) In my opinion most of this has to do the fact that, by not leaving the primary even though there was no mathematical possibility of winning, she did a lot of damage.

And let me add, while I am writing I hear the dog whistle blowing. The commentators are now saying that many people might be wondering, “How did he get into all those great schools when I can’t get mine into a decent on?” (“Words, just words!”) This is alluding to Affirmative Action and we all know that this subject hits many poor white folks at a visceral level.

The antics of the Clintons would not be taking such a toll if the sentiment were not already there. Hillary talked about women’s right to vote and that it wasn’t granted until after black men where given the right to vote. She also added that some women where so upset that they just when home and stopped fighting. Last night I saw a black woman say that she may not vote at all because she didn’t know if Obama could do it. At least she isn’t going to vote for Mc Cain.

Not too many people want to pull the scab off this nasty sore, but much of this has to do with racism. Charles Barkley said it out loud on CNN. Obama is acceptable and resented for the same reasons, because he doesn’t fit the stereotype. The shame of this is that most black people don’t fit the stereotype and everyone could benefit by waking up to that truth; including black folks!

interesting and well thought out points! Especially the ones on the hidden racism that the Clintoins and most folk are dealing iwith now.. "it's ok to let them get "that" job, but not the one that I want, or that I want my wife to have!"

I agree with what you are saying Clark. That woman who couldn't tell why she wouldn't vote for Obama may not even realize that it is about race. I'm sure you ahve heard the saying, 'It's an intelligent fish that knows that it is wet." That's the effect of the "dog whistle," they can't hear it but somehting insdie of them can.

Question, do you have the power to look at all sides of an issue and then make your own choices? Or are you just dependant on the latest sound bite, main stream media's bias out look or just waiting for Jesse jackson to be forgiven and be once again allow to be the "only" voice on the public air waves to get you beyond your personal responsibility to vote your own conscious?
