A very dear friend shared this with me a few years ago and I thought I just may share it with you. Hopefully there's a message in it for you.
Why Read?
As it relates to education of our people; Willie Lynch predicted if slave owners did what he suggested blacks would be in slavery for 400 years and he was right. Please understand organized religion and it intent and purpose. Just go to some of the churches where the music is loud and so is the preacher with moans and groans and a lot of grunts. The people just love that and feed off the emotions. They are not educated but entertained. When you learn your history on the inside of slavery you will learn that the slave owners first beat slaves for attempting to read then found out the Bible was a perfect to teach them reading an understanding the WORD. West, the King James Bible has 66 books but just think how many books our preachers use in their sermons?
Now compare the spirituality of the Indians, the Africans, and other people of color. Can you see how we have the direction with the Holy Spirit by our mind not our religious teachings. We understand God is the universe that is why the White man feared us and took away our beliefs and gave us not his for he had very few of any value but his Perceived religious beliefs.
When we attempt to give light to a people who not only have been in darkness but chose to remain in darkness you learn to walk away rather than have them spit in your eye. Know for yourself, keep learning for yourself for one day you will meet a few people who will be seeking the truth about God and you will be able to teach them THEY are part of God who lives within their very being.
