How long after a fatal accident should you have to wait before official charges are made! (259 hits)

I need some legal advice that doesn't sound like just waiting on the system to work. My daughter was run off the road on her way to a woman's religious conference in Detroit. When I arrived at the hospital within 24 hours,I was given the shoes that she was wearing, told where to go to see the accident scene, and where to view the automobile, but I wasn't allowed to see the body until it was send to the funeral home. As far as I,m concerned it looked like a manniken. Her husband whom she had only been married too for less than a year, had taken control to block my authority as the mother.

So sorry to hear about your lost. Although it is not right, but the fact is her husband is considered her next of kin and he did not have to block your authority, he is the person that is responsible for her care even in death. I'm not sure what type of relationship you have with your son in law, but I would say that considering all things please put any differences aside and work together to get charges, if you know who is responsible for the tragic accident, filed.

Just for the record, if they had children together they need the two of you to get along, of all the things that you may not have in common what you did have was your daughter, for her please work it out to work together to get some resolve.

To work together and get along with him is easier said than done. He came over to my house with my children wearing her mothers jacket and a yellow sports car that he had gotten for her. Incidently the car that drove into my daughters car was a yellow sports car, A real brain teaser! He even thought that he could get custody of my daughters' seven year old daughter, who is not his child. When I explain to him that he had to turn over my grandchild, he said not unless I agreed to give him joint custody. We did agree on one thing, that my granddaughter should be given to her real father.
