November 18, 2008-Take Back our schools (3305 hits)

UPDATE: Dr. Ahmad’s 1st Annual BIA-Take Back Our School Initiative!

Okay, we are getting close. Are you prepared? What is your local plan?

http://blackinamerica.com/cgi-bin/blog.cgi...

Who:
You, your friends, your siblings, your parents, your co-workers and/or your neighbors

What:
***ORGANIZE AND PLAN YOUR LOCAL VERSION OF THE EVENT.***
Post the specifics here at BIA.com. Start contacting your local schools and let them know that you will be there to check out the state of current education. Find out the rules/requirements to visit the school(s). Ask if there are specific things that need to be done at the school you choose.

Make lists of shortfalls (the principle will have a ton of shortfalls). Collect money ($5-per person) from anyone you tell that says…”I can’t make it”. Partner with other organizations that support saving our schools.

Take the funds to the school and “hand them to the principle” or ask the principle what organizations can best manage the money in your community (again, the principle should know exactly where to point you…and the money).

It’s time to put up or shut up.

When:
ONE DAY OUT OF YOUR LIFE!!!
November 18, 2008 for as long as you can stand it!

Where:
The pre K-12 school of your choice. Try to target schools that need your attention the most. Note: Inner city Black Middle Schools and High Schools are hurting.

Why:
Because if we don’t stand up and make positive changes for the next generation of US…there will be no more US. If you haven’t gotten the memo…we are losing generations of our children: we cannot keep them in school and they think that no one cares!

Education has become secondary to everything else. I don’t know about you…but…a nation of uneducated, unemployable Black children is a scary thought. When you know better…you are supposed to do better…so let’s do better.

How:
Make a difference. Do something, no matter how big or small.
Paint, buy books, read a book to the children, help serve lunch, or just tour the facilities and to help manage the repairs. Take a small step (one day out of your life) to show our Black children that we care…and if you can… try fixing something.

I pray that this is the first of many grass root efforts to take our schools back. Let’s try to get a mass showing. If children (your child…your future) is a priority…please help me make this effort a huge success.

The wait is over…it’s your time to do what’s right!

NOTE: SPONSORS ARE NEEDED. Send me a private note if you want to help.
