We are inundated with emails from our people sharing horror stories about how they unknowingly allowed unscrupulous car dealers to thrust them into long term debt. We solicit your help by joining our "Christian Car Buying Ministry Negotiate to Win" club today and encourage your friends to join so collectively we can collaborate to mobilize numerous networks to share important money-saving information regarding negotiating with car dealers.
This is a "Generational Curse" on countless black families car buying finances that has negatively impacted black family finances for decades. Why? Because of historical oppression and racial discrimination that systematically prevented blacks from holding auto dealership sales\management\ownership positions in states like Arizona and others states nationwide prior to 1991.
As a result we haven't had access to fellow "Blacks in the Business" who weren't bound to remain silent by current dealership affiliation or by legally binding "Non- Compete" agreements effective for 10 or more years after they left the dealership.
Additionally, dialogue with other blacks in the business was discouraged because of the social stigma attached to those engaged in "Professional Car Sales" . Who in your circle of influence holds a sales\management\ownership position in the auto industry? Do you invite them to your social gatherings? Have you asked them for advice?
Finally, the "Auto Industry" has invested heavily in slick ad campaigns that are demographically targeted to lure unsuspecting "Blacks" into the false belief that it's unnecessary for us to seek help to "Beef up" our "Negotiating Skills" before engaging their local, "Friendly Dealer" to buy a car. This was a big "Manufactured" mistake!
After getting "Bamboozled" to the tune of paying thousands too much, on loan contracts that were too long leaving us "Upside Down from the git-go", most of us were and remain too proud to admit that previously we may have paid thousands too much (providing we even knew we had been hoodwinked! ) . To this day, even with the convenience of the internet, we still refuse to share information to educate and encourage one another to seek help from qualified sources (Like CCBM) before engaging a dealer.
This perpetuates a recurring, insidious cycle of abuse. Via emails, workshops and private gatherings we frequently hear people boasting as they brag about the ("Ham-Fisted") negotiation strategies they learned from various unqualified sources who dealers refer to as well meaning KIA's who "...only thought they knew how to effectively out-negotiate car dealer."
Personally, despite having the benefit of a college education, I admit that prior to the professional "Insider Knowledge an Training" gleaned from my seasoned experience selling cars at two of the most ruthless dealerships in AZ , when I purchased my first new car at age 29, I DIDN'T KNOW "Jack" ABOUT HOW TO EFFECTIVELY NEGOTIATE A CAR DEAL! I was the typical young "Black Buppie KIA" who thought I "KNEW-IT-ALL". Boy! What an un-informed, un-savvy,un-skilled, wanna-be, negotiator. I was! That dealer laughted at my stupidity ---ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK!
From what I witnessed, negotiating countless numbers of deals during my career selling cars, I'm fully persuaded that there are still countless thousands of our people (and it's growing )who know absolutely nothing about the "Insider Secrets" of negotiating a "Fair Deal". Unfortunately, this epidemic recurring "Generational Curse" on black family finances is perpetuated by pride, embarrassing fear of exposure, and lack of reliable information exchange about this "Negotiation Life Skill".
Has a dealer ever asked, "Who taught you how to negotiate?" Ever wonder why? Could it be that that the---DEALER DOESN'T CARE ABOUT YOUR FAMILY? Did you know that effective negotiating is a learned "Life Skill" that must be methodically taught by an experienced, "Skilled Negotiator" . Then you must practice the correct negotiation techniques in order to produce desired, quantifiable results? Contrary to that old popular phrase, "Practice makes Perfect!", truth be told expert negotiators will agree that "Only "Perfect Practice" makes Perfect!" Why? Because repeatedly practicing the "Wrong Negotiating Techniques" is a guaranteed recipe for disaster which dealers will exploit to your disadvantage costing you thousands.
One day someone will come to you seeking "Christian Car Buying Advice". Will you be prepared to answer their questions? Will your "Christian Car Buying Advice" unknowingly serve to perpetuate the "Problem" or will you allow the knowledge gained from your affiliation with (CCBM) empower you to become an active part of the "Solution"?
So, how can you help to break this recurring cycle of abuse?

God bless you and may this be the first day of the best days of your life!

My second wife had a very simple strategy. Here's what she did on the last car we bought. She simply told the sales person that she needed to see the dealer invoice, then offered $200 over dealer invoice. It was take it or leave it. If they did not want to show the dealer invoice or take the $200 it was goodbye. But that is what we got the car for.
