Tired of Reality TV

This season's fall line-up does nothing for me. I'm watching a few favorites like Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Private Practice, and Law and Order: SVU. When I'm not home, I DVR what I can't physically watch.

Reality TV has turned into a bad accident waiting to explode. I know most people watch to see what other people will do, but some people just don't have good sense
and have taken it too far. The bad and foul language, the behavior is disgusting, the fighting and backstabbing is unforgiveable, the ******...I can't watch any Reality TV program with my children except maybe a dance show. The entertainment programming isn't so much about talent as it is a popularity contest. Just look at the recent winners of America's Got Talent and American Idol.

Don't get me started about people of color. We are hardly seen on TV as it is. In the world of Reality TV, it's worse. Unless it is a black show like: Eddie Griffin's Going For Broke, College Hill, Real Chance of Love, and The T.O Show, most shows maybe have one person of color who gets voted off quickly. There is the exception ...the shows For Love or Money, the first two season winners were black women and Charm School had two black women, who also won.

I miss the days of theme songs, good story lines, great acting, and plot twists. These day, I'm DVRing old movies and age appropriate stuff for my kids. Don't get me wrong, some reality TV programs are good, but there are too many bad ones out there (The Real Housewives of Atlanta, The Bachelor/ette, Wipeout).

Something's got to give or I may have to get rid of my TV set.

What an understatement! I also miss the old television shows from back in the day and as a matter of fact, I'm currently watching re-runs of the Golden Girls. I go on Utube to catch video clips of shows that I can't get on TV Land or check DVD's out at the library. The quality of television isn't what it used to be.

You are sooo right!!! BTW, I loved The Golden Girls. It was smart, well written and addressed some real issues. I miss Estelle Getty and Bea Arthur. RIP.

All I know is that I have three TV sets in my house and there is only one good night of TV viewing. Most of the time, I'm watching movies or recording informational/artsy programs on the DVR.
