The Queen's Chair: Taking Time Off
My world changed on December 23rd. My children have been out of school and mom got a chance to catch up on sleep. No 5 a.m. alarm clock to wake up to. No cries of "Mom, I don't have anything to wear to school speech." No homework. No permission slip to sign. No quizzes. It's been great.
Instead, we've played games, opened holiday cards, seen theatricial productions like Ashcakes and A Christmas Story, made cakes and cookies, watched movies and got the house ready for the holidays. We also did some much needed work around our house. The kids got to sleep in and I've had quiet time for myself.
My world will change again come Monday. It's time to get back to the grind. My body is rejuvenated; my spirit bright. While I'm excited about the possibilities for 2010; it will be nice to have the house back to myself.
