The Queen's Chair: The Rosa Parks Story

I've been playing catch up with my DVR lately. One film I finally got to see was The Rosa Parks Story with Angela Bassett, Cicely Tyson and Dexter Scott King. Bassett was a producer on this film.

It was definitely worth the wait. I knew Ms. Parks gave up her seat on the bus because she was tired after a long day at work. That's all I think most of us knew. The best thing about this film was I got all the dots filled in about who she really was, her involvement in the NAACP, her love of sewing, the educational opportunities available to her, her unusual courtship with Raymond Parks, a lover of black poetry especially Paul Lawrence Dunbar, and how her one act of defiance changed so many lives in this country.

My children learned a great deal about Jim Crowism and what generations before them had to endure. If you haven't seen this gem...check it out.
