The Queen's Chair: With All This Modern Technology, People Still Don't Get Messages

Let's see ... there's Facebook, your internet address at hotmail, yahoo, aol, comcast, gmail...I could go on. There's Twitter. Cell phones, Iming, iphones, and Blackberrys. And while all these things have made it easier for us to communicate with each other, people don't always get their messages.

I'm not a slave to my computer; I refuse to be.

Weekends I tend not be on line. If I am, I'm working on a book chapter or doing freelance work I usually get up early so that my children are sleeping as I write. No noise. No interruptions. No distractions. I can get a lot done.

I'm writing this blog because I had someone try to contact me via computer and they complained they couldn't get a hold of me. They left me three messages and I didn't respond. I asked if it was important why didn't they just pick up a phone and call me? Silence.

I've heard of people who update their FB page or "tweet" every hour. I know a few people who have a FB page who check it every three to six months. And then there are those who have a FB page, an internet address and never check either of them. Which in my mind makes me ask, why do you have a FB account or an e-mail address?

And if you have an answering machine and your mailbox is full, you need to check your messages and clean them out. People are trying to reach to reach you. (wink)
