The Queen's Chair: I'll Be Glad When The Winter Olympics Are Over

I haven't been watching the Winter Olympics too much. Frankly, I find them boring. I don't ski, don't ice skate, play hockey, and you can forget about snowboarding. Besides all that snow, the Winter Olympics aren't that diverse for me. I'm glad Shani Davis won his gold medal in speed skating. Then there's the guy affectionately called "The Snow Leopard" from Ghana competing in his first Olympics. That's exciting.

I'd rather see The Summer Olympics. It's warm. Love the track and field events: the relays, hurdles, sprints. The swimming, the cycling, women's softball, basketball..etc. There's more of a variety.

Congratulations to the winners, but I can't wait until the games are done. I just need to see something else on TV.

Sister Marsha,

I can't believe you don't find the Winter Olympics exciting! Are you just saying that or are you for real? I was quite fascinated by those guys sledding around slippery track on their bellies and on their backs trying to figure out just how on God's green earth (and at this time of the year white earth) they don't slide off those sleds or luge.

I didn't realize that it's possible to ski as well as those guys do and then flip in the air and keep moving like nothing happened. I do admit that my favorite thing to watch is the iceskating because of the grace of the skaters, but to each his/her own... we all have what we like. ((smiling at you))

I guess I'm getting tired of them because of all the snow around here...lolol
I really haven't seen that much of them. I missed the luge event. The snowboarding is wild...I would never do it. Not a big ice hockey fan. Loved that the American man won the gold in figure skating. This may sound mean, but actually the falls and wipeouts wre more exciting.I think NBC didn't do a great job of letting people know when things would be on. Maybe if they had, I would have gotten to see more.

Well it's all over the channels in Canada of course being that it's sponsored in BC... Canadians are very proud of their country and are always looking for an opportunity to out do the Americans--- I know --- my brother in law lives in Ontario.

I tell him to stop hatin' and start appreciating that America is one of the best countries to live in! Ha!!

You can also tell him to be proud of their woman skater...she was amazing and had a lot of courage. You can gently remind him that Canadian stars like Jim Carrey, Michael J. Fox, Wayne Gretsky, Jewel seem to like living in the US. :)
