The Queen's Chair: Is It Hot Enough For You?

I'm sitting in front of my air conditioner writing this blog. Man, it's hot. Weather men are predicting that at 5 p.m., it should reach a high of 93. We (the northeast, I'm three hours away from Canada, usually don't get these temperatures.) Anything over 86 degrees makes me uncomfortable.

This a.m., I got up and did a few things. I made breakfast, ran the dishwasher, straightened up the house, and read. A pitcher of ice tea was close at hand. I filled up a pitcher of water and put in the frig for the kids later. On days like this, I try and do nothing.

My daughter came downstairs and wanted something to eat. My instructions to her...make a sandwich because we aren't turning on the stove. It was too hot. She and her sister did that and got into a heated UNO game. I explained to them later that in weather like this you don't do strenuous work and since the whole week was going to be like this we had to watch energy usage and eat light. A food coma in this weather...not a good idea. I also told her people with chronic illness, the elderly, and the young need to stay in doors because being outside for long periods of time, can actually hurt them in this heat and humidity.

So for at least the next three days, I will be drinking lots of fluids, buying lots of ice cream, having my fans and a/c running, and cuddling up with a good book. I'm being safe than sorry.

I open the from door at 6 pm and in came a rush of heat that felt like a sauna. Oh my goodness the ceiling fans are on and the a/c is running overtime. As I repsond to your blog, I have a tall glass of cold water. Water hasn't ever tasted this good!

I feel your pain. Had to have my children turn off the a/c for a few hours and put it back on. My shower today never felt better.
