"The True Journey"

"The True Journey"
Posted By: Vernell Gore on March 20, 2009

As we embark on our christian journey we embrace our new relationship with childlike newness. We drink of his goodness, dance in the presence of his greatness, marvel at his amazing love and feel a bliss that cannot be ever measured in that dimension again. We've tasted what Adam and Eve had in the garden when they had continual fellowship with God. They walked in a peace unmeasurable and a sense of belonging that can only come through a relationship, a real relationship with God. It would be awesome if we could exist in this newness but God does not want our relationship to exist only in the highs of a experience with him but to grow in him. Sometimes that means pits, pitfalls, and valley experiences. Soon the "highs" are gone and it can seem like somewhere you missed it. You no longer feel the closeness of your relationship and you wonder what have you done. Have you been there? Its called the call to growth. God does not want you to exist in your emotions or feelings but in your faith in him. What seemed like a sure thing now causes you to pray more, fast to die and pray to live. You want more of God and it seems now your best friends have issues with you, your family done tripped on you and your finances took a vacation without you. You wonder what has happened to my life. We must remember that we should see God as our Father and our Lord who guides us. We think of the "great" experiences and "great" outpourings but sometimes that comes as a result of trouble. If we look at the Old Testament we can see how many times the greatness of God was seen in times of trouble. Everyone would love to have a Daniel experience of deliverance but no one wants to face enemies or the lions den. Everyone wants to have the kind of Red Sea deliverance but who wants to have to deal with Pharoah and stay spiritual. (You know its the truth). Laying down religion sounds real good, shoot one time I even asked God to just blink so I could get to them. Just being real. People can push you right to the limit of almost more than I can take. But those are the times we can see the perfecting of God to mold us. As soon as we walk in our own flesh, our convictor, the Holy Spirit will lead us to the path of righteousness. And those who really love God "will" take the high road. Its a process and only God can do this work. Sometimes those close encounters to be a Peter with a sword can show us where we are to recognize where God prefers we go to. Remember Peter did put down the sword. (Put it down!!!!). The way to living to live again is a continual walk all the way home. It does not comprise of short cuts, elevators, or man's book on the dynamics of christianity. It comprises of God's almighty hand governing your life into a life in him for his glory. Your pitfalls can become your stepping stones to maturity. Your valley experiences can become bridges to someone else saneness. Your aloneness may cause your heart to stir by hearing someone else story. See many people see preachers as those behind pulpits but God uses Abigals and Jethros to speak a word that can change a nation. It doesn' t mean preachers are not needed it just means as he willed it every joint supplieth. So wherever you are on your journey, mountaintop, pit, valley, its just a moment in the journey. Let it be a true one dedicated to seeking and serving God. Let it be one that you allow your vulnerability "to GOD" be real with him. He won't change his mind because you had a bad day, got mad and wanted to "speak your mind" he knew it before you did. Just let him be the Father he always wanted to be. Seek your time with him on this journey in truth no matter where you are now in life. So in him eternally you can live again.
