Tennessee State Kicks Off First Day in Shoulder Pads
|
Posted By: How May I Help You NC on August 09, 2012 The third day of practice got a bit hotter for the Big Blue of Tennessee State University. The Tigers added shoulder pads on Wednesday morning, which slowed down TSU briefly. “We took a small step back today,” said head coach Rod Reed. “The first day in shoulder pads is always hectic. We succumbed to the heat. The tempo was good starting off, got sloppy in the middle and tailed off in the end.” The Tigers used the third practice day to continue acclimation to the heat and install the schemes for this fall. Coach Reed saw some progress for his team. “We are still in the evaluation period,” noted Reed. “I think our transfers are making solid progress. Nick Thrasher on the defensive end has been impressive so far. Offensive linemen Rogers Gaines and Kadeem Edwards are getting a big push in the trenches right now.” The Tigers return to the practice field tomorrow at 9:15am. TSU’s first scrimmage of fall camp will be Saturday at 7:30am at the practice field. Fan Day Set TSU Fan Day will be Saturday, Aug. 24 at the indoor practice facility. Fans are invited to come out and collect autographs and photos with the 2012 football team. Kick-Off Times Confirmed TSU Athletics announced on Wednesday that kick-off times have been announced for all home games. The John Merritt Classic against Florida A&M is slated for a 6pm contest on Sept. 1. All Hale Stadium games (Austin Peay – Sept. 15, Eastern Kentucky – Oct. 6 and Tennessee Tech – Oct. 27) are scheduled for a 1pm start time. TSU kicks off Homecoming against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Sept. 29 at 5pm. 2012 TSU FOOTBALL CAMP SCHEDULE Thursday, Aug. 9 – Practice (shells) – 9:15-11:30am Friday, Aug. 10 – Practice (shells) – 9:15-11:30am Saturday, Aug. 11 – Scrimmage – 7:30-9:30am/Special Teams 5:45-7:45pm Monday, Aug. 13 – Practice (full) – 9:15-11:30am Tuesday, Aug. 14 – Scrimmage – 7:30-9:30am/Special Teams 5:45-7:45pm Wednesday, Aug. 15 – Practice (full) 9:15-11:30am More: http://www.tspnsports.com/ If you enjoyed this article, Join BlackInAmerica.com today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
