Let's talk about bogus contests—the ones you see floating around the internet where you’re supposed to get as many people as possible to vote for you. You know the ones. Maybe they promise to boost your credibility or give you some fancy title. But here’s the thing: these contests can butcher your brand faster than a butcher with a dull ****. And if you're asking people to vote for you every day, I'm here to tell you that you're not winning anything. The people running the contest are the real winners, not you.

The Ego Trap: What Does Winning Really Do for You?
Let me get real with you. Winning these contests does nothing for your business or your credibility. In fact, it's more of an ego stroke than anything else. What does that fancy title do for your brand? Does it drive sales, increase awareness of your offerings, or make you stand out as an expert in your field? No. All it does is slap a "winner" sticker on your forehead for a second while you waste valuable time begging people to vote for you.

Here’s the harsh truth: you could spend hours, even days, campaigning for votes, but at the end of the day, what do you have to show for it? A superficial title that means little to nothing. And your audience? They’re distracted and annoyed because instead of giving them your expertise, you’re constantly asking them to vote for you.

Who’s Really Winning? (Spoiler: It’s Not You)
The real winner in these contests isn’t you; it's the contest organizer. They’re building a database of email addresses from people who vote for you. Every time someone casts a vote, that company collects valuable data, grows its email list, and monetizes your efforts. Meanwhile, your email list is stagnant, and you’re handing over the opportunity to build your community on a silver platter.

So, while you're hustling to win votes, they’re gaining the real prize: leads and prospects. It's like you’re handing them the keys to the kingdom while you're left outside, shouting, “Vote for me!” from the gate.

Stop Feeding the Beast: Build Your Own Audience
Why not use that energy to build your own email list, grow your own following, and strengthen your brand? Why feed someone else's database when you could be working on your own audience—people who actually want to hear about your products, services, and expertise? When you invest in your community, you’re the one who wins, not some random contest organizer.

Instead of spamming your audience with "Vote for me" pleas, offer them something valuable—a tip, a free resource, insight into your expertise. Create content that positions you as the go-to expert in your field. Focus on marketing what you do best: your services, your brand, and your unique story.

Contests Don’t Build Trust, Expertise Does
Here’s the bottom line: contests don’t build trust. Expertise, consistency, and value do. If you're spending all your time and energy campaigning for votes, you’re not focusing on what really matters—your business and the people you're here to serve.

Your audience doesn’t care about some random title. They care about what you can do for them. So, stop wasting your time on distractions and focus on what makes you great. You don’t need a contest to validate your brilliance.

Rant Over. Now Go Build Your Brand!
In the end, it's not about stroking your ego with some meaningless win. It's about building real, sustainable success for your brand, your business, and your community. Stop giving away your energy to contests that aren’t doing anything for you, and start focusing on what truly matters: marketing your expertise and building your own empire.

You’ve got this. Now get out there and get known for what you do best, not for winning a contest that benefits someone else.
