Posted By: Mister O The Hip Hop Teacher on August 07, 2025 In a profession where many administrators enforce a school culture where teachers must teach to the test, students must learn to study for standardized test and bad behavior is often rewarded by disorder diagnosis and therefore medication that sometimes slows down student behaviors and at other times, speeds it up. Either way, it doesn't make life easier for students, staff or administration. Then there is the hidden monetary factors for passing kids and keeping bad kids in class. This excellent short film by Mr. O aka Kamal Imani (who is a teacher of over 17 years experience) was originally titled "Special is the new normal". In many classes there are both students who are on the "spectrum" as well as "mainstream' and honor students who are integrated together. This is an excellent summation and gives a sneak peek for new and substitute teachers and paraprofessionals who are entering the school system. Enjoy!
