Delaware State University (DSU) held its annual Coronation Ceremony on Oct. 5 culminated with the crowning of Master Keith and Joyce Kasiama as the 2025-2026 Mr. and Miss DSU.

It was also a historic first were the new DSU Queen is concerned, as she became the first Miss DSU to also have held a past adult queen title – Miss Congo USA, in connection with her family’s diaspora background.

The Coronation production, held in the Education and Humanities Theatre, was staged as a parody of the Eddie Murphy movie Coming to America, with Mr. Keith going against his royal father’s bride selection and instead choosing his own queen – Ms. Kasiama.

Miss DSU Joyce Kasiama

As the oldest child daughter of Feza Mutezi and Eddie Etondi, Ms. Kasiama grew up in Baltimore, Md. She is a senior majoring in Mass Communications/Digital Media.

Her leadership experience at DSU began with her election as Miss Freshman and later as Miss Junior. Her campus organization involvement has included her participation in Spoke Word Arts United, African Student Association, NAACP – DSU section, Only the Hornets, E.L.I.T.E., and 1Entity Modeling Troupe. She has served as a Residential Assistant in three dormitories and is also a published writer for the DSU Hornet online publication.

Her platform is “Motor Sports: The 69th Lap,” which not only represents her race to become the 69th Miss DSU, but also her mission to “inspire others, foster cultural pride, and create opportunities for growth and empowerment”

Last spring, Ms. Kasiama became an initiate of the Epsilon Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Mr. DSU Master Keith

The son of Dawntaya Auston and Master Keith Sr., Master the second was raised in Atlanta Georgia. He currently is a senior majoring in Law Studies with minor in Business Administration, and plans to continue his education in law school

His leadership journey at DSU began as a freshman when he joined the GodBrothers and Only The Hornets. He has served as a Residential Assistant for Zimmerman Hall and later was elected as Mister Junior. He is a Thurgood Marshall College Fund Lowe’s Scholar.

His platform is “Drumline: Marching With Pride and Leading with Purpose,” toward uplifting and inspiring others while representing the rhythm, discipline, and unity of the Hornet community.

Mr. Keith is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

The rest of the Renaissance Royal Court included.

Mr. & Miss Senior – Dahmir Mason, a Computer Science major from Trenton, N.J.; and Raven Reed, a Criminal Justice major from Bronx, N.Y.
