Ok...!

Now allow me to announce...actually, my Step-father is Mr. Creed Jr. McCoy. His sister is Mrs. Marrietta Henderson (married to Lucien Henderson). There is Uncle Ernest, Aunt Alice, Aunt Catherine ("Cat") McCoy, my cousins' Alice ("Monkey"), Lucien ("Jr."), Cathy ("Kitty"), Charmaine ("Butch"), Ricardo ("Ricky"), Keith, and Victoria ("Vicky") Henderson... Not to mention my Brothers - Creed ("Russell"), Steven ("Stevie"), and Derrick McCoy. My Mother is Rose M. Boulware. I was her first born and raised in a father's imbrace since the age of three-Four Months of age.

It was discoverd and admitted that I was born out of wedlock.

The troop began in North Philly, circa 1950ish!

Peace and Love,

Related... Greg.

ok... I'm going to have to get with my son... but I think the dates are off... Dean McCoy should have been born around the 1930's and his mother ..... were already there...

Henderson is my mother's birth name... But my family roots began in West Virginia during the 1800's..(that's as far as we can go back) and three Henderson Brothers migrated from West Virginia to North Carolina, Florida and South Georgia.

My father is from Eufula, Alabama... Cherokee... unfortunately by the time I had gotten to meet my great aunt for the very first time... a few years back... I think that was when I really embraced my Native heritage for the first time... she was already frail and her memory was not of the best... so she could not tell me much about my ancestry.... but I fell in love with her as if I had known her all of my life... all I could do was cry...

Greg... I like that story... your father was definitely a strong black man... of pure substance!!

Thank you Siebra!

Cynthia, my family migrated from North Carolina. I hear tell that some of the folks also came from Georgia... My Granddaddy hails from Winsboro, North Carolina - My GrandMothers people of from another town in North Carolina, I need to pull some family papers in order to provide the data.

Good Stuff... How many of us can trace our folks to back in the day and provide details - from WORD of MOUTH as well the printed text?

Peace and Love,

Greg.

By-the-by...

All of the McCoy's that I know throughout my famiy have all come from North Carolina.

My Grandmoms' folks are of "Cherokee" decent, I hear tell. Her features, the features of all her people, and family stories provide this asset/assertion!

Damn...the History of us ALL IS GREAT, is it not?

Peace and Love,

Greg.

Well if you come across any names such as Willie... Squire... Hernon... Germany.... then you've stumbled accross some of my families ancestors... It's amazing... but they had to name their children after family members in order to keep up with them incase they were lost... kidnapped.. stolen! My Grandfather's name was Malue.... and his father was named Willie... and his father Squire... and he was the brother one to migrate in North Carolina....

Now my David which was my grandfathers first cousin.... Settled into Leon County....
I have actual census records of my grand parents during the 1920's when they were censored... My Uncle Hernon is our census taker... and Im next to carry the torch!!

I love our history!!! How can one not want to be the best they can be... when the stories are told of how much suffering our people had to endure!! I know for me... Nothing I do is taken in vain!!!

I used to sit down and they would tell me these stories all the time... and i used to sit back and just whine... BUT now that Im getting up there... I am so appreciative...

That's one of the reasons I press my sons to read... Once our oral griots/historians leave us... How will we know ....

Many times I would get chased out of the room when the (out-of-town) folks came to dinner and or a visit. Ya know, "Chilrun," "Youngins," and "Chillins" were seen and not heard.

My Grandfather (and Grandmother) would say - "Leave that Boy alone, he ain't doin nothin but hearin!"

Peace and Love,

Greg.
