A Black Man....

A Black Man....

A Black Man

I thought Id take the time to write,
A lil something for my brothers,
Things you do aren’t always right,
But Id never replace you for another,
I love the strength that you possess,
And how it makes me feel,
The things you do so we can survive,
And how you keep it real,
I know sometimes you fall astray,
And cant find your way home,
But I know you’ll be back any day,
And I never feel alone,
I know its hard in this world,
And all the pressures you face,
But I just want you to know,
In my heart you’ll always have a place,
I know you hate to hear females nag,
I know it works your nerves,
But its all out of love,
Not intentionally driving you to the curb,
We just don’t want to see you hurt,
Or end up doing time,
Then our protection will be lost,
Over a senseless crime,
I know the system wants to keep you down,
From rising to the top,
But I know what you can do,
If you put forth your best and don’t stop,
Because when I look into your eyes,
I see the hard times that have passed you by,
That should make you want to try harder,
If only for your seed,
So he can have a father,
And wont worry about being in need,
You will be his inspiration,
To want a better life,
To quit running on the streets,
And settle with a wife,
All this may seem impossible to achieve,
In our world today,
Where fathers over-look their seeds,
And sons just fall astray,
But I know you can be different,
And show us the true meaning of a man,
You are a warrior in my eyes,
The true leaders of our land.

Hello Tee G,

You are misleading yourself even though what you want is good. In other words, since you could recognize that you know the system of White America wants to keep him down and from rising to the top, that he should try even harder is fruitless.

He needs to recognize that he must first have a place of his own that will give him the freedom to rise to the top and be a father and a good husband to his wife as well as to his country and his people. But, never forgetting that it was God and his own genuine prophet that let him out of his fruitless hard times to be a sovereign man.

Your poem cries out to God for a permanent solution to a Black man’s dilemma in White America, am I right.

However, I could look past your confusion and frustration to see your heart and its need to be healed.

Tell me what you think.
