We have lost our identity and tend to look to others for answers to the questions of our identity. We must understand the beauty in who we are. Those who know who we are as a people feel the need to ask others for permission to be us instead of living unapologitically as a unique people. well being te person that I am, I usually dont literally ask for permission, and neither do I feel it is a literal question others ask. What I mean by that statement, is in certain settings or offices, we walk in with a mask and then wait for others to embrace who we are as African Americans before we feel its ok to be who we are without an apology from the start. This happens all the time, especially for those of us who work in predominately white settings.

Charity,"WE OVER COME".....just as we always have...it is now your generation to take over with this "new attitude" that you just expressed in this blog.At 66years old, I am at peace and beyond joy because of your being a part of this generation. My generation are at peace because we keep saying, "We never expected to see an Obama in our life time"! !!! I repeat, "We OVER COME...and continue to survive now matter what names we are called: slave, *****, negro Black-American, African-American!!!!!
