Hi Family and friends,
I have been swamped with information this week as our President prepares to take the Healthcare Reform Stimulus to the Full Congress! Halleuia ~ ER!
Thank you all for your support in the past and I am praying you continue to posture as President Obama's Healthcare Reform comes down the home stretch. This week I am asking for your action to help send another powerful message to Congress that Healthcare Reform must, must get passed!
With health insurance reform finally ready for consideration before the full Congress, advocates for healthcare reform including you, me, Healthcare For America Now, Obama For America, Black Women's Imperative, DC For Obama, and countless other grassroots organizations and individuals have set a big goal for this Tuesday, October 20, 2009!
The goal is to make 100,000 calls to Congress in a single day! If we can accomplish this, we multiply the message because for every call YOU make, a homeless person is represented, a mentally ill person is represented, a poor person is represented, an uninsured person is represented and the list goes on. We can be our brothers' keeper on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. We'll make our voices heard above the din created by the insurance industry's campaign of misinformation and fear and make sure our representatives know it's finally time to deliver on health reform!
TELL ALL YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS, CHURCH MEMBERS, CO-WORKERS, ETC.
What is an advocate? In this case, an advocate is a person or persons who speak about a cause to government officials. Advocates reshape and reform government. Are you qualified to become a healthcare reform advocate? ABSOLUTELY! Can your phone call help change how government works about healthcare reform? ABSOLUTELY!!!!
So, healthcare reform advocates across the country are holding "Time to Deliver" call parties and neighborhood outreach events. YOU can help in several different ways:
1) Tell All Your Family and Friends about this "Time to Deliver" day on Tuesday, October 20, 2009.
2) Get together in your living rooms and community centers, and reach out to supportive voters whose voices are particularly critical in this debate. Talk to folks about the President's Healthcare Reform Stimulus Plan. Please feel free to print out my previous blogs or articles and pass them out!
3) Call, call, and please call your representatives and tell them to support healthcare reform and/or thank those already doing so. You can obtain the number of your Senator or House of Representative by visiting
www.senate.gov or
www.house.gov and look up your state. YOU can also send an e-mail from the government site, but the focus this Tuesday is to call, call, and call!
Here is why calling is so important ... Senators and House of Representatives pay especially close attention when their phones don't stop ringing. They pay very close attention to "why" the phones are ringing!! Ringing phones send instant messages about keeping your elected seat ...
Also, YOU have the power to direct YOUR representative to deliver on campaign promises and effect change for the better. YOU can do this in just a few minutes of making a phone call. YOU can become a part of history ... imagine that. Smile. This ambitious goal for Tuesday, October 20, 2009, is for Congress to receive the most phone calls on a single issue for the first time ever!!! This is a "telephone" version of the March On Washington led by Dr.Martin Luther King, Jr. YOU CAN BE THERE!
4) Then join viewers across the country watch President Obama via an exclusive webcast that evening. Visit

What this means is that you can sign up to officially "announce" that you will be having family and friends "call" Congress on Tuesday, October 20, 2009. You can even download some helpful materials. Then encourage your family and friends to actually make those calls with you!
You can also RSVP with a nearby "call party" to promise to make your phone call, too. Either way, it is free and it is sending a message to the healthcare insurance companies that everything they did to scare US did not work and we want healthcare reform!
This is a great opportunity for college students to participate in President Obama's administration and taylor it to a college course, too!
