The Country Music Awards gave a new history to African American Country Singers!-- and the first African American Country Artist landed one as New Artist of the Year! The Award went to Country Artist, Darius Rucker. Daruis is a first to received this award in this catagory, however he follows Charlie Pride who also has received a country music award, but not for New Artist of the Year. The excited and over-joyed muscian/singer was elated and nearly tearful as he accepted it with overwhelming jublilation! I felt just as excited! It's great to see and to know we are really achievers! Taylor Swift won several CMA awards making her one the youngest female Country Artist to be honored.
