Greetings Family of Advocates - where are you guys? Smile!
Today is the day to unite with the fast skills you learned a few weeks ago. As you know, healthcare reform is facing critical defeat the way we need for it to happen for US and over 45 million Americans.
This is what will happen if healthcare reform and the public option are defeated ... we settle for the staus quo continuing to get wealthy while we continue to lose more and more of our paycheck and quality healthcare. Those without affordable healthcare will continue to not be able to afford it. All this will lead to increased deaths. Period.
A few weeks ago, you shined brilliantly by responding to a call by our President Obama to contact your Congresspersons and demand healthcare reform and the public policy. I love it when I chat with a Congressional aide and they are up to their neck in phone calls...!!! Smile!
Today, your help is again NEEDED and NECESSARY! You don't need any special college course to be an advocate. Here is all YOU need to do and it should not take more than 5 - 10 minutes of your time.
Visit
www.senate.gov and look up your Congressperson by entering your ZIP Code. Send them an e-mail or if you can by cell phone, blue tooth, etc., CALL them and simply tell the person answering the phone that you, YOU the voter, want YOUR Congressperson to support healthcare reform and the public policy. It really is that simple.
What will happen?
Well, each call represents 100 constituents in your district. Those calls really are counted and determine how your Congressperson will vote. If your Congressperson feels as though it is not important in his or her district, support of healthcare reform will be lost to the status quo.
Don't be intimidated thinking you are not smart enough or educated enough or etc. A phone call is your license to change healthcare in the US. Ringing phones in Congress ALL Day long make a big, big difference!!!!!!!
Tell your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers to do the same thing. Send them a text and teach them advocacy skills,too. Smile. Today the goal is a million calls to Congress across the nation. This is realistic if you overcome whatever hesitations you have and make the call.
Remember, we made a difference a few weeks ago. Ladies made a huge, huge difference just last week!!!!!!!!! WE HOLD THE POWER despite what the media says...........amen? Amen!
Of course, there are millions of people who are homeless or otherwise unable to make the call today. Remember them when you have a few moments between tasks at work or on your way to/from lunch or instead of chilling with a friend to gossip on the latest...make that call to Congress (first). Smile!
If we don't pass health reform, millions of Americans will be trapped in a broken status quo, unable to pay their bills or see a doctor when they need one.
More and more employers will drop coverage for employees. And Medicare and Medicaid will blow a hole through our budget.
There's too much at stake not to get this done. That's why Obama For America supporters have made 849,856 calls to Congress in support of health reform since August.
And that's why today, with the Senate locked in last-minute negotiations, our goal is to hit one million calls.
Can you help? Please, Please call your senators now and help us "ring in reform."
