"A Closed Mouth Never Gets Fed, and A Closed Book Never Gets Read" (1085 hits)

Greetings Authors and Readers!

This chime of a old wise saying was on my mind as I thought about authors, writers and their books. In somewhat of offering advice I have to use my own advice from time to time. I being one a timid nature; and one who practices humility I have to learn when to speak. When I am performing on stage, I find I am about the speech! When I am away from there, I'm mostly quiet and gentle natured. When I'm writing, that's also another explosive part of my own creativity. I go many places in writing things and I can portray many a character far more aggressive than I.

This all fits into having to also promoting books and writings. If you've been quiet silent about what you have -- no one will know that it exists but you and the Creator. Even the Creator says "Open your mouth and I will fill it"....I know he is a God of his own WORD. You have been blessed to write something, and you are more blessed that you have finished and had it published. Either by a self-publisher or a publishing company. Writing is a beautiful gift. So is your mouth. If you haven't spoken up about your work or your book or books, they will remain closed. Say something about what you've done. Write something, display something, just follow through with letting others know of your unique talent. You're not bragging, it's sharing --which is a representation of what you wanted to do in the beginning of your writing expressions.

There is a time to speak, and a time to be silent. When it's time to eat you'll open your mouth. When it's time the read....you'll open the book.

Love and Harmony,
MIISRAEL

Thanks that's inspirational. I need to get started on collecting my thoughts and writing a book.

Dear MIISRAEL:
Well said. You nailed the writer's chief dilemma--"My art is writing. I am not a publicist, promoter or marketer." The other side of that dilemma: "If nobody knows that my writing is out there, how can anybody read it?" And "If I am not willing to stand behind my own work, how can I expect anyone else to do it?"
So, go for it! There are plenty of opporutunities to share--that is the perfect word to describe a wrter's work.

And to Cynthia--you seem ready to take the next step as a writer--to actually write!!! As a writing teacher, the first thing I tell my students is to keep a notebook and fill it with all your own words. Don't even think about writing for anyone else to read. Your first audience is your self. Have some fun with it!
PEACE,
Rich

Thank you both, Cynthia and Richard. It's always helpful to be encouraged by others and even greater to be as one who gives encouragement..
