Well are we? When I take a look around some of our ruined and nasty streets I wonder? When I see trashed being tossed about and beer cans and liter just laying around, and when I see where lawns are overgrowned and uncared for in the black neighborhoods, I think do we care about this planet?
No, I know not every black neighborhood is represented as being trashy and nasty. However, I even find that trashy people are in every race! Black is the neighborhoods where I live and travel. Many time homeowers neglect up keep of their lawns and they never pick up any kind of trash in the street..... only a select few.
I'm doing my part as best I can. When I see trash whether it's on the curb or broken glass on my street, I sweep it up myself. I noticed that if I didn't no one else would. I've tested it for a time and finally I decided I couldn't take it anymore and went and swept the street. City sweepers come around, but rarely and not enough. So, in the interval I have to become the city's sweeper.
I believe cleanliness is next to Godilness. If I'm to be next to God. I have to clean. So in respect of Earth Day think about what you can do next time you see trash, or someone's yard in need of mowing, or a tree that needs planting...or do we really care?
EARTH DAY is everyday.
..I AM THE KEEPER OF THE EARTH
With my hands though small they be.
I plant a tiny little tree.
I fold the earth around it dear.
And pray it grows from year to year.
As God has granted things of green.
I am the keeper of the earth by keeping her clean.
