IT'S EARTH DAY.....ARE BLACKS CARING ABOUT THIS PLANET? (266 hits)

Well are we? When I take a look around some of our ruined and nasty streets I wonder? When I see trashed being tossed about and beer cans and liter just laying around, and when I see where lawns are overgrowned and uncared for in the black neighborhoods, I think do we care about this planet?

No, I know not every black neighborhood is represented as being trashy and nasty. However, I even find that trashy people are in every race! Black is the neighborhoods where I live and travel. Many time homeowers neglect up keep of their lawns and they never pick up any kind of trash in the street..... only a select few.

I'm doing my part as best I can. When I see trash whether it's on the curb or broken glass on my street, I sweep it up myself. I noticed that if I didn't no one else would. I've tested it for a time and finally I decided I couldn't take it anymore and went and swept the street. City sweepers come around, but rarely and not enough. So, in the interval I have to become the city's sweeper.

I believe cleanliness is next to Godilness. If I'm to be next to God. I have to clean. So in respect of Earth Day think about what you can do next time you see trash, or someone's yard in need of mowing, or a tree that needs planting...or do we really care?

EARTH DAY is everyday.

..I AM THE KEEPER OF THE EARTH
With my hands though small they be.
I plant a tiny little tree.
I fold the earth around it dear.
And pray it grows from year to year.
As God has granted things of green.
I am the keeper of the earth by keeping her clean.

God bless "Mother Earth" and you as well Miisrael!! I recycle and it so happens that this morning I was talking to my 4 year old before he went off to school about recycling bins inorder to help him complete his small homework assignment that we didn't get to last night. He was able to tell me that we recycle plastic, paper boxes, and cans. He was so happy to take the empty "Red Rose" tea box and an alluminum pan to school for show and tell. Thanks again for this blog!

I do whatever I can. Every little bit helps like Irma said and each one of you I believe are sincere in doing steps that help too. What's next Mozell we'll find out if we have survived in a dirty planet. I recall a saying..." And thou shall die in a polluted land." I hope black communities will start caring more about where we live. Cleaning up where we live effects the earth and all of us. Thanks everyone!

I suppose that oil rig sinking in Louisiana didn't help Earth Day...

It seems as if Earth Day is sending out its messages, the oil rig could possibly spill out over the waters, and Iceland's volcano is stirring up even more smokes in the skies. Earth is making a voice to us I think we'd better start watching and listening. Noticing too; an earthquake or two every month this very year! Storms and tornados, and meteors falling from space. A new month is fastly approaching. 0^0 -Like Mozell says always says ...."Just thinking...." My friend Mo, he's such a thinker--Smiles

Clark how so true. With all this science in techno we often overlook saving the forests and our oceans--these are things in the earth that are essentials to both the earth our existences of life. When I was in school, I loved my ecology class! [Smiles]

MIISRAEL, although it has been many, many years since I have been in washington, D.C or lived in Salem.Org. but, I do hope taht these two places are still places you can not see :trash, empty , broken bottles andy place...and teh rivers are so clear that you can see the bottoms of them.

Moving from Org. to Ca. was sort of a culture shock to see so many broken bottles, discarted containers, etc...and lets not forget how throwing out you rcigaretts from your moving car causes many, many small, large and sometimes weeks of fire fighting to put out what one tossed lit cigarett does.YES IT IS ONE LITTLE THING AND EVERY BODY DOES IT so mines will do 'not' something like this.. B-U-T...(smile)

But, we are geting there..we now have more and more schools growing foods and children going on field trips to learn about how important nature is...we now recycle and demand more of our foods not have so many chimicals in them. I grew up when we did nt use sun tan, but now we know more about sun damage...and I never not pick up some trash, cans if they are with in my reach no matter where I am...I feed the birds year round now...I return shopping carts to where they belong.lol...

Every little bit helps to protect our planet as if it is really our home. this is good. (smile)
