DOGS LIE...."
Stirring up sleeping dogs will stir up much of a dog's fight or even dog's bite!! I find this saying works as a warning if you're trying to break into a place that's guarded and well protected. This slogan fits in when you might get caught sneeking , interferring or or interception into another person's business affairs or their private business or life. When the dogs are sleeping you don't go sneeking around.
Looking at this is another view too..what is asleep that's dangerous to your or another may need to remain asleep. One who awakes a sleeping "dog"; so to say it is possible of receiving a very painful dog's bite. That's why it's a good practice to mind our "own dogs" and let other folks dogs lie in sleep. Staying safe is "Letting those sleeping dogs lie." You might have your own way you understand the saying. Express yourself!
I'm hearing somebody say...."WHO LET THE DOGS OUT!" WOOF! WOOF!
