Book Intro: The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose
Nakia R. Laushaul poetically gathers myths and misconceptions about life that threaten to hold the heart captive into her first bound collection, The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose. She expresses her views of The Truth about Me and You, Love, God, and Life in powerful poems that make the truth look painfully simple and prose that tenderly draws you into the world as she sees it.

The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose beautifully fuses together and creates light after tackling difficult and often times taboo topics. Out of pain and anger comes healing. Out of despair and disappointment comes hope. Out of the darkness of lies shines the truth.

About Nakia R. Laushaul
Nakia R. Laushaul was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and now resides in Houston, Texas with her teenage son and niece. She is a poet, novelist, and entrepreneur. Nakia is a real people person so, in her free time she enjoys spending it with her family and participating in many social activities. She has always loved to read and early on in life guessed that writing would play a major role in her future. Inspired and fueled by attempts to be molded into the norm, she began to write her first body of work titled, THE TRUTH AS I SEE IT: IN POETRY & PROSE.

Nakia remains determined to present the truth as she sees it in all facets of her writing, and hopes that her writing will inspire and serve a meaningful purpose for her readers. Nakia is committed to challenging everyone within her reach to find compassion and empathy in the differences that exist among us all. She has recently completed her long awaited follow-up project, a novel, RUNNING FROM SOLACE, an excerpt can be found in THE TRUTH AS I SEE IT: IN POETRY & PROSE.

THE TRUTH AS I SEE IT BOOK REVIEW
Nakia R. Laushaul has penned a striking work of art. I love spoken word poetry, preferring the performance over the written prose, but in reading The Truth as I see it, I found myself visualizing those performances. My favorites: "I Am a Tree" and "5 W's and How: A Reality Check" were two powerful pieces that spoke to me with passion and realism. Ms. Laushaul is a confident and intelligent writer who was able to direct my emotions with each passage. I felt empowered when reading "Part One: The Truth As I See it About You and Me."

I was in love when reading "Part Two: The Truth as I see it About Love." I felt spiritual when reading "Part Three: The Truth as I See it About God" and I was informed when reading "Part Four: The Truth as I See it About Life." The excerpt of her upcoming novel, Running From Solace was a tease that has me anxiously anticipating the release. I applaud Nakia R. Laushual for creating a work that is insightful and entertaining.
