The condition and awareness level of the African Americans greatly improved from the plight of Black nationalists of the 1900s from Marcus Garvey and Father Divine to Huey Newton, Stokely Carmichel, Rap Brown and Angela Davis. It culminated with the Honorable Elijah Muhammad with a twist to Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali. HBCUs had to revamp their libraries as a result of black Nationalism to take into account the change of venue of the so-called American Negro..In the end, there was a renewed sense to black pride, togetherness and aboriginal awareness among the major minority group in America.
A 100 year saga has to end in better than is realized today. African Americans are loosing their jobs, farms in the south and sense of brotherhood. To say brother is a bad thing today. Then after it all, many black women have given up on the brotherhood and strayed to the caucasian. Black Nationalism stirred a drive for black entrepreneurs and black ownership. Thanks to the 1900s, African American own football and basketball teams. Black Nationalism spurned activity in the arts with a new sound. Louis Armstrong, Sammy Davis Jr to Motown and the likes of James Brown. What Black Nationalism done for Black America really cannot be measured. What is left is fullfillment to the drive set forth by these individuals that made up for the movement toward self reliance.
