It's not necessarily a citizen of race, nor a citizen of the military, nor a homeless citizen; but it is our country's eldery citizens. Often, I think of the eldery because of many reasons, but because I see them often alone, in public places and many of them being in poverty they have few family members that commit to taking care or seeing after them.
This also brings to attention those who are neglected by nursing homes and elderly shelters where thousands of them are abused. Some left to suffer and die. These are places where they may be considered only a name or a dollar sign for a business. Many elderly loose site of life and are generated to have those golden years tainted with depression and desperation. It is a harsh reality. These I consider the most neglected citizens in the United States. This does not account for the many elderly who are attacked, robbed and often killed.
It is a social negative very much needed to shatter, but it reflects where many of us today could end up. A little help goes a long way. There are ways we can help the elderly live out the rest of lives with hand of love. Perhaps next time you see a elderly ask yourself or them..."Is there anything I can do that can be helpful to this aging indivisual?" Ponder... Contact The Council on Aging for more facts on how one can help.
Help is available check into helping the aging!
