DEATH SENTENCE TO DOTSON
The jury voted unambiguously today to the death penalty of Jessie Dotson an alleged and now convicted murderer in the Lester Street murders of 6 people in March 2008. For two weeks jurors heard and saw gruesome pictures and testimonies of the murder scene. They found Dotson guilty of murder and only moments ago issued the filing in court that he should face the penalty of death. Dotson sat speechless in the courtroom and showed very little emotion. In a early testimony this week Dotson let out strong uncontrollable emotion of his innocence and beat the counter with words of profanity. He was quoting from the 48 hours tapes which he claimed he was coached into admitting his guilt to the killings. Those murdered were part of Dotson’s own family his brother, sister and nieces and nephews. Three children survived, which one was old enough to testify--which had a huge conviction for jurors that it was his uncle who killed all 6 relatives. Many think Dotson's actions hurt his case and strengthen the jury to believe he was guilty when he gave testimony on Friday, 10.08.2010. Dotson has been a convicted felon of another murder prior to this case, and had only recently released before the family murders in 2008. Family of Dotson said if he had not be found guilty and released, they were truly afraid of him ; but some expressed relief because they are ready to move on even though he being their relative they feel justice has be served in his sentencing. He was found guilty on 9 counts of murder and attempted murder.
