ARE SOME BLACKS SPEAKING ANOTHER LANGUAGE? (323 hits)

I work with "Ye Public" and everday I'm saying the same thing repeatedly. I give instructions to restrooms, I give information about my company/organization guidelines and procedures and I answer phone lines. However, each day I'm presented with saying the same thing to one or more persons three or four times in a row! I've tried saying it another way, but still particulary with my Black brothers and sisters they have a deaf's ear or I'm not speaking their language.

So taking this to my only son, I asked; "How do I say it where they'll get it first time?" He simply replied..."Mama, you got tah' talk "Ghetto!" Shocked I was! I thought I was speaking ghetto!

For example, when asked where's yo' restroom? I reply..."Straight down this hall [I'm pointing] turn left at the only opening by the stairs." So what do they do...they go up the stairs, they pass by the stairs-- and the run and get on the elevator!! I'm totally raged!!! My son says tell it this way... "Go down that way and go left!" I just don't know!
Another example:
When answering the phone I inform the caller: "In order to join the organization you'll have to attend a session..."What did you say?" they often reply... Finally, I've learned to say "Just come on in."

I have to discover this new language; or else I'm going to be stressed out! ... or should I say..."I gotta talk another way!..or I'm gone go crazy!"

Just blowing out some Bubbles..OOOOOOooooo.
I do dat' somethimes...

LOL!

Fin.
