New Black Website AfroDaddy.com - The Black Man Survival Guide (98 hits)

Team Afro today officially launches the website AfroDaddy.com - The Black Man Survival Guide. AfroDaddy.com is a new website created for black men (and particularly black fathers) to get answers to questions on how to survive and prosper in America. For many African Americans there are aspects of business, health, finance and other topics that we traditionally don't know. For others in and outside of the black community who have found success, there is a wealth of knowledge that could be shared to uplift and transform the black community. AfroDaddy.com is a website committed to bringing all of these people, black businesses, and black organizations together as resources for one another to improve the lives of black men and strengthen the black community.

"We didn't want to create another entertainment website that spotlights black athletes, black actors or rappers. AfroDaddy.com is about helping every day black men deal with the real issues of life - being a better father, getting a job, managing money and having successful relationships" says Darrell Garrett, Senior Editor at AfroDaddy.

The cornerstone of the website is The Black Man Survival Guide, which is divided into 6 sections (Food, Shelter, Clothing, Health, Relationships and Money). Each section contains Survival Articles, Did You Knows and Q & A related to the key survival area. In addition to the Survival Guide, the website also features articles on entrepreneurship and careers, as well as a special section that deals with issues related to fatherhood and parenting.

"AfroDaddy.com is a community project and only works if people inside and outside of the black community contribute. We will be actively looking for people to write articles, ask and answer questions, and list themselves as resources. We look forward to expanding the site to help millions of African Americans be more financially aware, healthier and more prosperous." says Jordan Guy, student and content contributor.

For people who want to be a stand for the black community by contributing content, listing their company as a resource or becoming a member, email us at teamafro@afrodaddy.com or visit the website at www.afrodaddy.com

AfroDaddy.com is a collection of individuals who believe that all people should be able to have what they need and want out of life. We strive to make this site a place where people can get as much information as possible to do that. The target audience for this site is black men, as unfortunately there is a lack of information in the black community that needs to be addressed. Traditionally there have been many reasons why information has not been available - from slavery and Jim Crow in the past; to redlining and poor public systems in the present. The result is that too many black men get too much of their education from the street, tv, prison, or negative peer influences.

Many black men have not been fortunate enough to have parents, uncles, grandparents and mentors who have the time, work history or schooling to teach their young the things that can help them through life, avoid pitfalls and to achieve their dreams. In addition, much of our oral history has been lost and the passing down of key pieces of survival information from one generation to the next is not occuring the way it should. On the other hand, even in the best of circumstances not even the smartest or largest extended family can teach the young everything.

AfroDaddy.com is a site to help fill those gaps of information. We want to be that uncle you seek out when you have a really tough question and you know he has the answer. The mom who always seems to know how to take care of whatever's ailing you ("put some robitussin on it"). With all the moms and uncles and granddads sharing their collective wisdom on this site hopefully we can achieve our mission of being a survival guide for black men.
