This survey was conducted with opinions of Black Americans living in Memphis, Tennessee. Read what some said and the percentage of those polled.
I asked this question:
Even when things are good or bad do you still tend to worry?
Most related that having money made them less worrisome, but others felt that they are always insecure about the economy, job and everyday to day living. Others said that money wasn't the cause of their worry but that health was more a important issue because they wanted to live healthly without illness and remain in good health. Some said they never worried, but were only always concious of their next move and how to re-act on it.
About 80% said they worried more when things DID NOT go right. Worrying about having shelter, and paying bills on time-- and basic monentary needs. Worried about material wealth and job security.
About 62% said they worried when things WERE going well, because they often worried if something would go wrong at anytime. These said they always worried in the back of their minds and tried keeping things going good as much as possible.
About 20% said they didn't worry if things WERE NOT going well for them. These used faith building concepts that everything will turn out one way; or the other and that worrying wouldn't help the situation so why worry over it?
About 38% said that when things WERE going good, they worried less, or hardly at all. They said just enjoy having a smooth sail while it lasts.
About 90% said they WORRIED about their health and never wanted to be sick.
Leaving about 10% who said they DO NOT worry about anything. They live day to day and leave worrying out. If they became ill it was nothing to worry about.
Note: Other opinions expressed worry about their family, children education and how others judged them. The highest poll worried about having enough money to live and for retirement.
I think most experts may say that a moderate amount of worry is fine, but too much is not good for health, wealth or wise.
There you have it! .... DON'T WORRY.
So, do you worry dearest?
