An 18 year student is accused of stabbing her 21 room mate to death. Sources from the Murfreesboro, Tennessee Police department said that S. Stewart and her room mate got caught in a very heated argument that travels ending in a stabbing leaving Stewart dead.
The 18 year Madden was arrested and will be facing charges for murder. Details indicated that during the ugly fight Madden stabbed Stewart with traumatic wounds leading to her death. Others on the scene of the apartment murder were questioned but have not been charged as accessories to the killing. S. Stewart is a native Memphian and was a student at MTSU [Middle Tennessee State University] This is the fist of noted killing at the university. Students gave favorable connections to Stewart as being a very bright student excelling in basketball at Central High School in Memphis, and also was a member of the MTSU Ladies basketball team. Students at the university school all are devastated of hearing this unfortunate event.

GODWIN RETIRES FROM

Director of Memphis Police Department Larry Godwin will be retiring his position as of April 13, 2011. Godwin has served with MPD for just under 38 years which 7 years he held the position of Police Director. During his resignation, the Mayor of Memphis wanted to keep him on, but his pension retirement did not allow him to revert back to hire after retirement. …..

GODWIN HAS A NEW JOB OFFER!

At a press conference on March 02, 2011 following his retirement announcement Larry Godwin also announced that after submitting his retirement he had been offered a job with The State of Tennessee. The position will be in Nashville where he will serve as part of State Highway and or a position with Homeland Security Services. He was met with the announcement by his former co-worker and a former work associate. Godwin expressed his gratitude with much enthusiasm. Godwin stated that he met with Mayor Wharton to recommend his replacement as the next MPD Police Director. Godwin and his wife will be moving and traveling in the direction of Nashville and will take his new position there in April.

Hundreds of court appearances were detained for a few hours because the CJC was without electric power. The outage of power was caused by a substation malfunction leaving many people who had early court appearances outside waiting, and waiting. People could be seen waiting in the long lines at 201 Poplar with faces of disappointments as they complained of being late for work and other engagements they either missed or had to reschedule. They were warned by sheriffs and security staff if anyone left without going to courts the warrants for their arrests would follow them. They were advised it would be in their best interest to remain until the power was restored. Power was restored around 9:30 a.m. as MLGW staff work diligently to have the power up and running and so were the line of people.

AWAITS THE BASS PRO DEAL

The Bass Pro Deal is still in a limbo state awaiting a study to make the building earthquake proof. Mayor Wharton that it would take at least an 8 week study to determine and then pursue future plans to make the pyramid safe in case of an earthquake. Bass Pro has offered a deal to the city of 100,000 to occupy the building but cannot move in on the deal until studies are completed. The Mayor assured Memphians and Bass Pro they would agree to pay half the cost of the study and the Mayor said that the building is presently being leased for other events. Before moving further the study will have to be conducted and that Bass Pro Deal hasn’t faltered but only met with a few delays. Bass Pro is wanting to lease the pyramid for one of it's largest retail store, gift and pro shops.
