46 % OF MISSISSIPPI REPUBLICANS WANT INTERACIAL MARRIAGES BANNED!! National News Poll 04.12. 2011 You’ve read that ban correctly. Last week an independent poll from the Public Policy Polling a firm based in North Carolina indicated that they conducted a poll consisting of 400 Republicans who answered they are against inter-racial marriages. While 46% said they are for banning inter-racial marriages and making them illegal, 40% said they think it should be allowed. There was 14% who were unsure. It has been only 45 years that inter-racial marriages have been legal in Mississippi. The poll was conducted by telephone between March 24 and 27, 2011 with a margin of error of plus or minus at 4.9%. The same firm stated they have or will be conducting a similar poll among non-Republicans voters asking the same question of making inter-racial marriages illegal.

Shows how much they respect our US Constitution. The Supreme Court, which is the law of the land, banned any law like that. For good reason.

Hey Jen: I already pointed out this article to him during the conversation. I asked him how comfortable he feels about his common ground with blatant racists who do not like him. He wasn't troubled at all. He said at least there are some people who agree with him that we should keep our races pure. Whatever that means.

Hello to all, It is an innate law of God that suggests birds of feathers should flock together, am I right. Desiring your own kinds does not suggest racism. For instance, a male zebra desiring a female zebra over a female horse do not suggest racism to me, so how could it suggests racism to you? In the Bible the book of Ruth suggests that the Hebrews should not intermix with the Moabites. I believe that you all are seeing things a little cockeyed. What say you?

Ms. Shields...this is interesting because it denotes the view from conservative whites in this country. Those that see themselves as a breed differant than black people and prefer maintaining their breed over free-for-all type intermixing. Preservation of one's own species is hardly a wrong thing so I would applaud the Public Polling policy for quantifying this set of statistics in North Carolina

Since we all know the racism that exists in Mississippi this should not be a surprise that they want to make interracial marriages illegal. I am not a racist by any means...I feel whoever a person chooses to marry is their personal business...however, slavery and oppression have destroyed the mindsets of people of color, particulary the black race. We really need to heal Black female and male relationships.

I posted this on my wall a few days ago. People need to know their enemy and the enemy of good people are these 46% jerks in Mississippi. Racism is evil and it needs to be stopped by any means necessary. @Siebra You are right about brothers and sisters needing to heal their relationships. We got work to do!

I don't understand what the bible has to do with anything. After all it was written for those Arabs who are not a part of other people since their prophet looked like them. (blond haired and blue eyed with no body hair and frail) I am confussed. We don't even know whether there was a Ruth. VERRRY CONFFFFUSING!!!!

To my friend Jamal: Finally---a statement we can both heartily agree with. "Preservation of one's own species is hardly a wrong thing." The species you are referring to: HOMO SAPIENS, I suppose. That is, after all, the ONLY human species. In other words, YOU and ME brother!!! And you are correct. We need to work together for our survival on this planet. FYI: In Latin, it means "Man the Wise".

Hello to all, First let me say this to Mr. Darrell. Mr. Darrell any people that are not comfortable about other races intermixing with their race is not an enemy of any people. I will say it again; it is an inborn feeling that God installed in all races that is psychologically balanced to reject racial intermixing. People that are not psychologically balanced and mentally blind would not know the difference and Black Americans are psychologically unbalanced and mentally blind just because we are descendents of plantation slaves. Black Americans are not a very bright people and that is why we need God help as the children of Israel in their darkest hours were psychologically unbalanced and mentally blind that God helped them by first anointing Prophet Moses that was the same race as the children of Israel were. Black Americans are so ignorant and blind that the things I say are plain enough that a fifth grader whose mind had not been destroyed by slavery would automatically see that I am right. Again, what does it mean when it is said that birds of feathers flock together? Tigers and Lions are compatible that one could impregnate the other; but, do you see Tigers seeking to intermix with Lions? Zebras and horses are biologically compatible that one could impregnate the other; but, do you see zebras seeking to intermix with horses? No, you do not see this happening. Therefore, I would suggest to you Mr. Darrell to read and understand the nature of God creation. Secondly, let me say this to Ms. Thomasina. I mention the Bible and the Hebrew people's view about intermixing with the Moabites since you Christians believe you have a hand up about understanding the Bible. Only ignorant people and Black Americans fit that description and definition of being ignorant since we are descendents of plantation slaves. Black Americans do not know any better and our anger that White Americans would rather that Blacks and Whites not intermix is indicative of our ignorance. What is so good about any race over your own race? Should you do not want your own race? A psychologically balanced mind would say yes, I want my own race. You Negroes frustrate the hell out of me with such ignorant thinking and this animalistic desire to have a White man or woman over your own! Again, read the signs of nature and if the animals doesn't do it why would you do it when you are supposed to be more intelligent than animals are? What say you?

Thank you all for your opinions in this poll. No matter if we agree or disagree we know that those who want to marry out the racial lines will probably continue to do so. No matter even if we choose to think anything differently we surely may agree for the majority on this one thing: "God made marriage to be man and woman"
